“L'Hotel Nina in April 2012”
Reviewed April 7, 2012

This is a very nice hotel in the Kowloon section. It has two towers and we looked at rooms in both and all seem to be well appointed with very comfortable beds, expecially by Chinese standards. My wife was attending a business convention and the facilities were very good. The hotel is very close to the Tsuen Wan West MTR station and some shopping, I was dissapointed that there is NO wifi available on this property. Overall good but not great.

Room Tip: For better views of harbour areas go above 40th floor.

Upon arrival at the hotel, you will notice their very expansive and well-lit lobby. The receptionists were very friendly but the security roaming around were not very customer-oriented. Most of the staff hardly speak any English.

The hotel is located in Tsuen Wan and about 30-45 minutes away from Nathan Road. The train station (Tsuen Wan) is conveniently located right behind the hotel. If you're going to Hong Kong to do a lot of shopping (which is usually the case), it's going to be a hassle carrying your shopping bags and luggage inside the the MTR from the city center.

The rooms are pretty decent and if you're checked in at the upper floors of the hotel, the view can be quite breathtaking.

There are computer stations at the main lobby where guests can check their email and go online. Internet inside the rooms, however, are not for free.

I'd stay here again but would rather get a hotel near Central or Nathan Rd.

Room Tip: Internet is not free.

L’Hotel Nina is well located in the Kowloon area of Hong Kong with many, many restaurants and shops galore. Initially, I got a room on the 19th floor of the 87-floor hotel, but the room was so cold that I couldn’t sleep well. As a result, At 2:00 in the morning, I called down to Reception for an extra blanket, which helped considerably although I was still quite cold (Hong Kong buildings have no heating system because it’s located in the subtropics). And the bathroom had a bad, musty smell.

After writing to the Hotel Manager about my bad room experience, the following morning I was able to get a different room on a lower floor. The manager apologized for my inconveniences and gave me two complimentary buffet dinner coupons, each worth $47 US dollars. (I enjoyed these buffets but they most certainly were NOT worth $47 dollars!)

Both rooms that I used were identical: a double bed with tiny end tables on each side, plenty of granite counter space for my luggage and other items, a writing desk with a modern lamp, a mini-fridge which chilled my store-bought beer, a security safe, tea and coffee making service, and a medium-sized flat screen with cable. No Internet was offered; only broadband – and for a steep price. (There were 10 free Internet computers available in the lobby.)

The bathroom had the usual bathtub with shower, sink, commode, and soaps, shampoos, toothbrushes, and body lotion. Both the bedroom and the bathroom were very clean and quiet.

My room had a very nice view of the Hong Kong harbor as well as the magnificent Olympic-size swimming pool below my bay window.

Although my 2nd bedroom/bathroom were now satisfactory, I absolutely HATED the hundreds and hundreds of very loud Chinese groups that crowded the lobby all day long and well into the night. They were either checking into their rooms or checking out of the hotel. Never have I experienced such a “zoo” in a hotel setting.

Overall, if I hadn’t stayed at L’Hotel Nina with my tour group, I would NEVER, NEVER stay at this hotel on my own, mainly for the super crowds of pushing and shoving people, yelling and shouting their way through the hotel lobby and jamming themselves into the elevators. I really cannot recommend staying at this hotel. The corridors were horribly loud with people screaming, talking very loud, and kids running around. You’d be far better off looking elsewhere! In short: AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!

Room Tip: Do NOT get a room (as I did) near the elevators. If you do, you’ll be soorrrrry!

We chose this particular hotel because of the reviews i got from other tripadvisor reviews. For me this hotel has advantages and disadvantages as well. First, this hotel is indeed spectacular. We got the harbour view room in 59th floor. Second, Amenities such as the pool is very nice. It is an infinity pool, where you can see the nice view from the pool itself. They also provide an indoor pool (i guess for cold season) for guests as well. Third, it is about 7-10 mins walk from Tsuen Wan West line. Fourth, connecting to Nina Tower and Citywalk. These 2 are large shopping malls full of food stalls from chinese, american to japanese dishes. These are the disadvantages: First, far from city. If you are travelling for few days, the travelling time to and from the city center will eat up your day. Second, About an hour by bus away from the airport. It is difficult to go bring your luggages from hotel to mtr vv especially if you are bringing a big luggage with you. Third, Shops in the vicinity opens late (around 11am). Minimal selection of shops as well. Fourth, the mtr going to and from Tsuen Wan West are always full (anytime of the day).
Weighing the pros and cons would definitely help. If you have more days to spare, using this hotel is a plus since it is way beyond the nice hotels in the city center plus the price is definitely competitive. However, if you just have few days, you might want to consider to stay in the city center to maximize your stay.

Room Tip: Ask for 2 queen size beds and an upgrade to Harbour View room.

Beautiful Hotel, food(breakfast) quality & variety are very good and we enjoyed that in the Large Restaurant with very good ambiance. Rooms are beautiful and clean. Located at the central market place and easily accessible on the main road. Staffs and officers are very co-operative, friendly and courteous. I recommend this Hotel to the visitors coming to Hong Kong. Electric plug points are only accessible to Chinese electric appliances which is boring, as Hotel could not provide the necessary adopters when needed and asked for. One can buy that from the nearby shop(10minute walk) at 8HKD, which we did.

Stayed twice here, once mid February and once mid March, 2012. Two very different rooms. First room was much more cramped and had ventilation issues, in that it was very, very stuffy. Second room was much less cramped and the air was good.

Hotel is good value for the most part, but prices seem to swing wildly depending on availability.

Room internet is way too expensive, considering even the park beside the hotel has free city of Hong Kong wireless internet. Hotel does provide computers in the lobby though.

A little noisy in the middle of the night at times when people stumbled through the hallways looking for their rooms, but really not too bad.

I booked this hotel for 90 euros per night through www.Allabouthotels.gr, definitely a great price, and stayed there for six nights. Check in was very fast. We were given a room in tower 1, on the 29th floor with a beautiful view of Rambler Channel. The room was spacious, with two king beds, spotless and comfortable, and the bathroom was very modern, offering both a bath and a shower cabin. Part of the hotel is a shopping mall, with a supermarket, so convenient for me, as i was travelling with a child and needed things all the time. The mall is connected to the hotel, you don't have to go outside at all. There are about eight PCs at the lobby with free internet. The staff are really helpful and polite. However the hotel needs to have a luggage storage room, because leaving all those luggage in the lobby, is not suitable for a 5 star hotel. The area around the hotel is nothing much, there is a small park with a playground, and the metro is only 5 minutes walk. Using the purple line you are in Kowloon in about 15 -20 minutes. Breakfast was not included in the price, so we had breakfast only once which cost about 135 HK dollars and it was ok. The open air swimming pool was located on the 9th floor, but was closed during our stay, however there was and indoor one. Next to the pool, was the jym, which we didn't use.
Yuen Yuen institute is only 10 minutes by taxi, and Sha tin about 20 minutes by taxi.
I definitely recommend this hotel, and would stay there again.

Room Tip: ask for high sea view rooms
