I booked the 6 hour stay in a room in Aug 2012. I wanted to go straight to bed off the plane, but there was confusion in the booking and i ended up booking the bedroom from 2pm-8pm which turned out to be great. I went up on the cable car ($125HK) when it opened at 9am and missed the crowds there, and returned for 2pm. In september i stayed 24hours, and arrived at 8am, and was extremely tired but there wasn't a double room available for hours, however the staff were very friendly and found me a double room which was lovely.
I found a rice and vegetable dish (I am vegetarian) for $48HK in Food Republic which is a food court in the City Gate shopping centre in which the hotel is sited. Near the entrance to the train station there is a 7Eleven for snacks, and a really lovely bakers selling fresh pastries. Everything is on the doorstep, and it is very close to the airport. The shuttle bus was brilliant.
The hotel pool is divine. I found the staff very friendly and accommodating. I saw the garden from the hotel window which looked very peaceful, and a children's play ground.
This is our fifth stay at the Citygate and
it is still the only hotel option for us in Hong Kong. This trip we stayed on the executive floor. There are numerous complementary food options in the lounge and they even put on the NRL final for us (Go the Storm!).
The MTR station is 5 minutes walk through the outlet mall and the hotel has a convenient airport shuttle. The pool area gets busy but is nicely landscaped. Buffet breakfast is ok - nothing exceptional. Awesome staff too!
This has to be the best Novotel I have stayed in. Amazing setting and very nice modern interior. Obviously, it is part of a big chain but this hotel feels quite cool and different. Great location for shopping at citygate.
