“Great value for the location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

I stayed for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff were helpful and attentive. The room was clean and well serviced. The location is an easy walk to Causeway Bay and Wan Chai. I've stayed here before and will stay here again!

Stayed for 3 nights whilst visiting family in Hong Kong. Good location, clean and well serviced, friendly staff and an unusual bar. Easy walking distance to Wan Chai and Times Square. Highly recommended.

Stayed 4 nights recently. Overall, its an average hotel; nothing much to shout about.

No wifi in room unless you pay for it so we used the free wifi in the lobby.

Though there are free shuttle services to various places (to take at Cosmopolitan hotel), we only used the shuttle to the airport express station.

Dread walking back to the hotel daily as it is between Wanchai and Causeway Bay station. In future, will consider other hotels that is much nearer to the MTR.

Emperor Group is currently constructing a hotel just next to Cosmo. So if you do not leave your hotel room by 10am, you will hear the pounding sound.

Hotel has 2 views. Depending of which room you get (or pay), you will either get a view facing the cemetery or the room that look across to buildings.

Housekeeping services was inconsistent during my 4 days stay. One day, the tissue box that was located in the toilet was thoroughly wet (do not know why). Another day, the staff did not replenish the tea/coffee sachets. And on another day, the daily 2 complimentary water bottles were not given to us.

And instead of the queen size room that I requested, i got a room with 2 single beds joined together.

Hence, will consider other hotels in future.

Dear Mistng,

Thank you for staying with us. While Cosmo Hotel is actually located right amid the busiest shopping and business districts in Causeway Bay and Wan Chai, it is only an 8-minute walk towards the nearest Causeway Bay subway station and our favorite shuttle service could bring guests towards 15 major destinations including mega shopping mall Times Square beside Causeway Bay subway station, Pacific Place in Admiralty, IFC in Central etc., which we hope you have chances to try them again next time.

Regret to learn about the inconvenience brought to you due to the construction site next door, and hopefully it didn’t bring you much disturbance. Please also accept our apology for the misplacement of some in-room amenities. Rest assured that trainings will be reinforced to all Housekeeping staff to avoid reoccurrence in the future.

Regarding the bedding arrangement, we appreciate your understanding that we were not able to accommodate your request upon arrival due to high occupancy and yet we have promptly arranged two double beds well-jointed together as an alternative. While free wifi is available in all public areas and lobby, guests could actually enjoy free wifi in guestrooms simply by booking via official website. Look forward to welcoming you back very soon.

My wife and i stayed at the Cosmo hotel for 4 nights at the end of March/beginning of April. It is in a great location, a 10 minute walk from Timres Square and overlooking the Happy Valley Race Course. We arrived quite late on a Satutrday night and check in was prompt and we received a free bottle of wine in our room. We had an Executive room which was very clean and comfortable. Not the biggest but big enough with a Queen sized bed. Bathroom was very clean and the shower was brilliant! All in all a good stay and would recommend to anyone wanting a convenint, comfortable and clean place to stay at a decent price in Hong Kong.

Small rooms with very cramped bathrooms.
Hidden charges - read the small print carefully. Advertising a room rate including unlimited WiFi access and then charging a HK$12 service charge seems like pathetic penny pinching and does little to make guests feel valued and welcome.
Dire hotel bar with no atmosphere and depressing decor.
Reasonable standard buffet breakfast with particular complements on the pancakes!
There are much better options in this price range in the surrounding area.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for staying with us this time. The internet service charge is actually imposed by the internet service provider instead of our hotel, which we appreciate your kind understanding. At the same time, the related details is put on our official website and reservation confirmations to avoid confusion made to guests.

On the other hand, we believe you are talking about the Nooch Bar located at the lobby of our hotel. While it comes with hip and modern design, we do really hope you will give the award-winning cocktails a try next time. We also hope by next time you will have chance to try our other room types that measure up to 83 sq. m. for a more spacious stay. Meanwhile, our bathroom’s renovation is also in the pipeline which will surely give you a refreshing experience upon return!

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2013 via mobile

A decent stay but as in the title, I am giving it an average 3 only because I didn't feel like I was staying in a 4 star hotel. Usually, I have a more positive view on hotels I've stayed in with the same star rating. I've stayed in one other hotel in Hong Kong before, and recall that the rooms and facilities were much better.

Firstly, the service is great. Staff are friendly, are happy to offer guidance, and quick to respond. Most spoke Chinese and English which was useful for us.

Getting to the hotel from the airport was relatively painless. We took the Airport Express Line (AEL) then the complimentary shuttle bus from HK station. Same on the way back. Tip: $160 for 2 people on the AEL, rather than $100 each.

The hotel shares facilities with the sister hotel, Cosmopolitan. No big issue but sometimes it's just more convenient having everything at the one hotel. It was only down the road though. The only issue was the gym was at the Cosmopolitan and it was more of a cupboard than an actual gym.

The rooms are small. We just stayed in a standard room and there is just enough room to walk around the bed. The cupboard was, again, small. Probably ok for short business trips but not really for 2 people staying for 2 weeks. Complimentary water was welcomed as was the fruit. Although I did find it odd that we only got fruit on the first day, where as I know for a fact that the fruit in the Cosmopolitan rooms get replenished every day. No big issue. I didn't enjoy the pathetic hair dryer that takes half an hour to NOT dry my hair. I asked for a replacement but it was marginally better. Having said this, the rooms were comfortable. Aircon is loud but can be turned off, but couldn't open windows to let fresh air in. Although, I know that if we opened the windows we'd be greeted with a cemetery view.

There is free wifi in the lobby and the patio area on the 5th floor. Nice to have some space to sit outside and the coffee machine was good. Wifi in other areas needs to be paid for but the free wifi was good enough for us.

Location was ok. Not the greatest but we are fairly familiar with getting around in Hong Kong already. For someone new to HK, it may be a little tricky but just some research and anyone would be fine. The hotel offers shuttle buses approx every half an hour to popular locations. Or it's about 15 min walk to Times Square/Causeway Bay or Wan Chai station. There is a local bus stop just outside the hotel which goes to Admiralty or Central with buses running every 5-10 mins. We made use of this a couple times. Can pay with Octopus card.

No proper luggage storage. If you need to leave your luggage somewhere if the room isn't ready, or if needing to check out but only flying later on, then luggage is just left in reception. You get a ticket, but the luggage is just left in the open until you go back to collect it. There are always staff there, but I've not been anywhere which doesn't have proper luggage storage facilities available.

The hotel serves breakfast but we didn't include this in our stay so nothing to comment on there, but there isn't much of a restaurant area either. Next door at the Cosmopolitan is a nice restaurant for an evening meal. Pricey for Hong Kong but they do serve good food. Service there is a bit shoddy but that is at the other hotel, not Cosmo.

So, all in all, a comfortable stay but nothing particularly special.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your time on sharing your feedbacks with us. First of all, we hope you find it convenient to enjoy the shared facilities of both hotels as our sister property, Cosmopolitan Hotel, is just few buildings away from Cosmo Hotel. While the gym room is now equipped with standard facilities, we will definitely review it and enhance the work out experience of our guests.

Regarding the rooms, Cosmo Hotel actually comprises of 7 room categories sizing up to 83 sq. m., which usually come with great views of city skyline. While windows are closed for security reason like most of the other hotels in town do, we hope you will have chance to try the other room types next time. We hope you enjoyed the fruit specially arranged for you upon arrival and trust our Guest Services Team has promptly replaced your hair dryer once informed. Guests are always welcome to request for additional drawers in room if needed for extra storage place as well.

For the luggage storage issue, rest assured that we do have proper storage space for all the luggage. We regret for the occasional scene you encountered and we will definitely look into this issue in order to prevent the same from happening again. Meanwhile, we will also work closely with the restaurant at Cosmopolitan to make sure the service standard is excellent under all circumstances. Please do visit our hotel’s official website to enjoy privileges like free wifi in guestrooms and best rate guarantee etc. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

I opted to stay in one of the hotel's executive rooms. This was spacious and adaquete for my simple needs, though there is not much storage space for guests with a lot of luggage; a fairly common issue in HK. The hotel was clean and the staff helpful, with my cleaner having a particular eye for detail. The nearest Metro (MTR) station is a good distance away, as is the nearest convenience shop, but there is a shuttle service to the city centre and plenty of taxis if you dont fancy the walk. 'American' Breakfast was OK, though on one day nearly all the hot food items were vegetarian (the only meat was boiled ham slices in hot water). There are two lifts for 27 floors and these are also used by staff, so be prepared to wait a little at busy times. My only problem was with the hotel's WiFi which is offered as complimentary, but still attracts a daily 12HK$ service charge - my Galaxy III phone was not compatible with the hotel's system and my Galaxy Tab kept losing its connection; I had to reset the in-room hub several times a day. This being said, I would stay here again.
