“Good clean hotel with bad breakfast”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012

Hotel was very clean, nice staff and central location. The only disappointment was breakfast which was not for standard of 4 star hotel. Actually I haven´t had that poor and narrow selection breakfast for long time. Also they charged breakfast even though I didn´t stay there the whole time. We had booked a twin room with a friend but I left 2 days earlier, still they charged the breakfast for 2 persons.

Room Tip: If you a big person or you have lots of luggage, make sure you can fit in as the rooms are very smal...

With 7 room categories sizing up to 83 sq. meters, we offer several accommodation choices for guests’ different budgets and preference. We are glad to know that you had an enjoyable stay at our well-appointed rooms together with the warm hospitality from our professional guest service team. In order to cater international travelers like you, we have not only combined both east and western selections of dishes but also offering an cook-to-order eggs services every day. Thank you again for your feedback on the breakfast, and we will keep on improving on the food choices and quality to ensure great breakfast provided to guests every day. Regarding the breakfast charges, we believe it arises from miscommunications. We will not charge guests’ for breakfast until consumptions, or in exceptional cases, breakfast charges which are already included in special pre-booked packages could not be refunded due to respective terms and conditions. Our 24-hour on duty guest service manager could always be contacted for an immediate investigation and follow up upon similar cases to avoid possible disputes on charges. The hotel was nice, clean, comfortable, 15 mins walking to the station. The hotel provides shuttle bus to some main stations which is really convenient. The only bad side was the cemetery at the back. If you can accept it, the value is good.

Room Tip: Rooms facing to the main road can avoid to see the cemetery.

Dear Alice,

Thank you for your kind comments. We are glad to know that you have enjoyed staying in our well-appointed guestrooms providing guests a tidy and comfortable accommodation. Conveniently located amid city centers Causeway Bay and Wan Chai, it takes only an 8-min walk to reach Causeway Bay MTR while our favorite complimentary shuttle bus could bring our guests towards 15 different attractions including Causeway Bay MTR station, mega shopping mall Times Square, Wan Chai Convention Centre, Hong Kong station for airport express interchange, IFC Mall and Taikoo Place etc. Although some of our guestrooms are facing the historical churchyard with a frosted window for a design touch, other rooms offer great views of our city skyline. Guests are always welcome to state their preferences during reservations and we will try our best to arrange. We hope to welcoming you back soon!

Upon arrival to the Cosmo Hotel we were greeted by the very friendly & helpful concierge, the lobby area is very modern & artistic, the staff who checked us in were also friendly, however we were not pleased to her about a daily deposit of up to 200 HK dollars for services such as wifi & the mini bar, however after we informed the staff about our unhappiness and shock we were given the option to freeze wifi & mini bar services, which pleased us. Our room, like the majority of hotel rooms in Asia, was fairly small, however it was nicely decorated and very up to date, our view of what appeared to be a large graveyard wasn't exactly picturesque but we expected to have a not so amazing view before we arrived so we weren't so displeased. The bar area of the Cosmo hotel was again similar to the reception very modern and up to date, the bar staff were very friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxing, a perfect area to relax with a local Chinese beer after a long day marketing and sight seeing in the difficult Chinese July humidity. I would also suggest taking use of the free wifi in the lobby, bar and terrace on the Fifith (I think) floor. The location of the hotel isn't too bad located near the Happy Valley Racecouse there are a few Chinese restaurants within lose vicinity.

TIP: Take advantage of sister hotel Cosmopolitan's shuttle bus service, which takes Cosmo & Cosmpolitan's guests to Times Square and Causeway bay three times an hour from 10AM until 10PM.

TIP: DO NOT go to Hong Kong in July or August as the humidity is near unbearable.

The attraction for us to stay at the Cosmo was its proximity to Wan Chai and the ability to accommodate three friends in the one room. While the rooms are smallish (typical of Hong Kong generally) they were meticulously clean and having two bathrooms was ideal.

The property is about a 10 minutes walk to either Wan Chai or Causeway Bay MTR, and the Hotel Cosmopolitan next door provides a complimentary shuttle service to a range of local destinations.

Other advantages with its location is its proximity to Happy Valley Racetrack and having a number of local buses stopping right outside the front door - very handy jumping off the 6X bus after a day at the Stanley Market!

We found the breakfasts a little limited in the range of options, but the quality of the food was excellent.

Overall, we would recommend the Hotel Cosmo.

Note: This is my third time to Hong Kong for visitation & most of the hotel at Hong Kong are pretty small in size.

Location: just 10-15 minutes walk to Causeway Bay station & near to Time Square, SOGO shopping mall that are quite convenient. Opposite Racing Horse stadium & along the way to the station that you may see the Golden Dragon. Quite convenient to take a bus as the bus-stop were just in front of the hotel & no issue on transportation.

Room: clean & comfortable bed that we slept soundly for 3-nights but just minor problem with air-conditional that we were unable to adjust the fan. Little bit small size room without scenery view outside (depends on the room that you request for).

Amenities: got Internet connection/ broadband in the room but need to pay for it. However, there are free WiFi at level 5 & water dispenser too. Not enough socket plug for charging battery. Very cozy & nice bar at the lobby that you may enjoy the football match on the large LCD TV there.

Service: Excellent customer service with fluent English & Mandarine. The concierge were very helpful to call a taxi for us & we were glad that we didn't late for my sister's convocation at HK Convention. They even email you some relevant information before you departing to Hong Kong e.g. weather condition, transportation when you get there & etc.

The location of the hotel is rather convenient with Macdonald's and cafes just across the road and a 10-15 mins walk from the Olympic station. Staff are customer-oriented and friendly. Just a downside, the rooms are rather small.

Dear Andrea, thank you very much for your feedback. We trust that you’re referring to our sister property Cosmo Hotel Mongkok. Nice to know that you had a pleasant stay there and enjoy the convenient location of the hotel and the service from the professionally trained staff. The hotel offer five room categories sizing up to 42 sq m which are all smartly designed to maximize the use of space. Our reservations team would be happy to recommend the room types best suit our guests’ needs. Apart from the nearest MTR Olympic station and an array of local restaurants and eateries, etc in the neighborhood, the hotel provides free shuttle daily to multiple locations in Mong Kok (subway / Langham Place Mall), Tsim Sha Tsui (Canton Road / Harbour City) and West Kowloon (Elements / Kowloon station onwards to airport) to bring our guests to the shopping and sightseeing spots in town. Visit the hotel website for more details and latest promotions and plan your next trip with the Cosmo Hotels!

We stayed there for 3D2N just recently, and find the place to be ok.

Location:
In front of a cemetry? Or at least that's what we saw while on our way to the hotel on our first day... But no worries, it wasn't haunted or anything. Walking distance to Causeway Bay MTR of about 10-15mins. But safe your energy as they provide free transport to various places.

Quality of Room:
Never been to other hotels in HK, but heard the hotel rooms are quite small, which is about there. Decent enough for 2 to stay though. Pillow is bad for sleep... No shape no nothing...

Service:
No worries if you know nothing about speaking Cantonese as the reception speaks good English, and able to communicate in Mandarin as well. No free WIFI in room (which is bad), only available in lobby and level 5 (some club, restaurant, or something). You can pay for in room WIFI service though (other than reimbursable via Company, I don't see why should we pay for it). They have a clock with built in charger for iPhone (and iPhone only).

Overall:
Pretty ok
