“good mid range hotel”
Reviewed October 25, 2011

We stayed in Cosmo Hotel for 5 nights in October 2011. The clean double room on the 5th floor was quiet and not too small. There is a small outside area with free espresso coffee. We did not have breakfast in the hotel as we preferred to eat at one of the many places nearby. Whilst the road it is on is busy, a short walk & you are in Wan Chai or Times Square, Causeway Bay area.
Tram & bus nearby and also a ferry to Kowloon. You can use the small gym at the Cosmopolitan Hotel a few doors down. Friendly staff.

Stayed there for 4 nights while attending a conference. Rooms were a bit small (but then again, it's Hong Kong) but clean and well laid out.
Free wifi for an hour at the lobby and 5th floor (where my room was) and it's an hour free per device, so if you have an iphone and ipad they can each get an hour free.

Location wise, it's about a 10 minute walk to the mtr station so it's not the most convenient if you have difficulty moving around.

The staff were helpful and had initiative. When we were waiting for a cab one morning, the front desk actually came out of the hotel to tell us that it was a no stopping zone and where the next best place to catch a cab was.

Room Tip: There's a pantry with an outdoor area with the hour free wifi I mentioned on the 5th floor. Cof...

The staff are the true asset of this hotel. I have been to hotels all over the world and have never received such attentive service.

Rooms: The rooms are fairly small but there is just enough space. They are nicely decorated but the carpets look like they could use a good steam clean. The bathrooms are a fair size with all things considered and the water pressure and heat of the water was fantastic. As other reviewers have pointed out the walls are very thin. One night we had people with a screaming child one side and people with a blaring television on the other. Unfortunately if you are on a side close to traffic you will hear that as well. Our view from our room was of a massive grave yard however so as you can imagine the outside noise was minimal.

Location: With the free shuttle bus location isn't too much of an issue but you are only a five minute walk away from Times Square so there is plenty to do and eat while there. You are close to such attractions as Repulse Bay & Ocean World as well which is nice.

My only issue is the internet. You have to pay for internet in your room which is fair enough but the free wifi is painfully slow and isn't provided in places where you can plug your laptop in. Breeze on floor 5 is a great little area where you can get free tea and coffee but it isn't advertised well enough in my opinion and as a wifi spot doesn't provide the amenities you would usually get in a hotel.

All in all it is a fantastic hotel and I would stay there again without a second thought. If they could make the internet situation better it would be close to perfect.

Thank you for your comments. to provide more friendly and suitable services to international guests, Cosmo Hotel offers more than 5 room types in different dimensions and floor plan including cozy stand room, executive room include computer facilities with Causeway Bay city view, triple studio which can accommodate 3 guests at the same time to our Cosmo one or two bed room suites which measures 900 square feet / 83-square metres and features two bedrooms, both with an en suite bathroom, separate living and dining areas, and a pantry with a microwave oven.

I however would like to apologize if you have found the noise cause the quality of your stay, also understand how important a speed WIFI access should be for our guests, hence, the quality of internet access is always required stable and fast without being asked. There might be times that unusual technical issues could be occurred by the computer or the website IP, for your information, in order to ensure our guests’ satisfaction, a 24-hour guest services manager is always on sited to assist. I would agree with the previous post, the check in process was rather slow.
A little far to walk to the nearest MTR station and taxis not readily available. Yes there is a complimentary bus service but not very frequent and easily full.
The thing that really wound me up is the service charge on the Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi being a service, you get charged a service charge on a service???
Anyway, Wi-Fi should be free in a hotel of this class, especially in the so called executive rooms.

Thank you for your comments. in cosmo hotel, friendly and efficient services are essential. All of our employees are routinely arranged to attend our guest services and profession front office training to ensure our check in / out procedures with certain quality. however, due to a hotel high occupancy that might require longer waiting period, for any guests who are urgently need exceptional assistance could always raise the hand, our staff will more than happy to accommodate the various situations to make our coming guests stay more pleasant.

Cosmo hotel locates on the interaction of Causeway bay and Wan Chai, with only 10 and 5 minute walking distance to both major shopping and dining districts around the neighborhood. Guests could also choose our free shuttle bus services which goes to Causeway Bay MTR / Times Square mega Shopping Mall, Wan Chai, Admiralty and Central available in every 20 minutes. for your information, this is also by far one of the most completed shuttle route in Hong Kong hotel services.

Besides the in-room wifi services, guests could also enjoy our free WiFi in hotel’s public area including lobby and Breeze patio with free coffee and tea. The services charge of WiFi is required from the internet company which is in line standard with all hotels in Hong Kong.

i am looking forward to your next visit, and next time to explore with Cosmo Hotel, I am sure you will find many more good thing about us.

Stayed at the Cosmo hotel for 4 nights in April and really enjoyed our stay in Hong Kong! On arrival my partner and I were told that we had been upgraded which was good news after a 14 hour flight! Staff at reception were always polite and helpful yet spoke very limited english!
The location of the hotel, we found, was ideal for exploring the city! There is a tram stop just down the road and we found that everything we needed was within walking distance, buses and trams are very cheap so take advantage of this! We were unsure of whether to stay in the Kowloon area however when we visited we were relieved that we had chosen to stay in Wan chai as it is a lot less hectic and smoggy!
The hotel itself was very clean and stylish with a small bar area just off the entrance, although be warned drinks can be very expensive here! The rooms were cleaned daily and were spacious (by Hong Kong standards!) as well as modern and comfortable - we were also on the 20-something'th floor and had amazing views!!
We payed around £40 per night for the room and found that it was excellent value for money, we couldnt of asked for more and we found that Hong Kong hotels were generally quite expensive (some hostels we looked at on the internet were around the same price for the time that we stayed!)
Hong Kong is an amazing city and there is too much to do!! We went to ocean park (through the hotel) and had a really fun day, you have to get the cable car ride the views are fantastic!! Also visit Tim Ho Wan - its a michelin star dim sum restaurant that serves amazing food for our 40p per dish! Also, definately go up to the Peak, breathtaking views - we went before sunset so saw Hong Kong in the day and night from above!
We decided to book our transfers to the airport with the hotel as it worked out really cheap - perhaps something to look into if you need them!
I would definately recommend this hotel- good location, clean hotel and very reasonable!

Pleasent check in staff but very slow - exhasperated by the need for the loo. I asked several times what the hold-up was but got no meaningful response.
I know it's Hong Kong but the so-called "executive" room was no better than other much cheaper rroms I've stayed in (although the bed was nice and comfy).
The real drag was the terrible sound-proofing (or lack of). The doors and walls must be made of cardboard and the cleaning staff bang around like builders - I am serious: forget trying to get any sort of lie in.
Breakfast was very average with very little "western" grub. Top marks for proper fresh orange juice though which is very rare in my experience.
Location is a bit out of the way and Taxis are not easy to get hold of outside.
The bar looks quite good but always seems quiet so is not enticing at all.
In all - a hotel pretending to be something that it is not which would be hugely improved by better sound insulation or at least some staff training to do their job reasonably quietly.
Dissapointing

Room Tip: "Executive" rooms overpriced. Dont know about any others but suggest Wharney instead

Thank you for your comments. in order to provide better services to Cosmo guests, all of our front line staff are regularly arranged for professional check in / out training, however, I do apologize for the wait due to the hotel’s high occupancy. Noting down your valuable comments, we will certainly rearrange our manpower for peak check in / out time.

being named as one of the most comfortable 4 star boutique hotel by Michelin Guide, Cosmo hotel actually wins over our guests by our colorful, chic and friendly room designs. Our executive rooms are designed in pleasant yellow, relaxation green and passionate orange at guests’ choices. however, I apologize for the sound proof issue that might caused the quality of your stay. while we will emphasize on housekeeping cleaning noisy training, please also be advised that our Guest Services Manager is 24 hour on sited to assist our guests for all immediate service improvement.

With international travelers in mind, the breakfast service in Cosmo hotel including east and west style, Chinese dim sum, spring roll, traditional soup, cereal, fresh bread, juices and order to cook eggs are all available. your comments are however noted for our better improvement I the future. As to our lounge bar- the Nooch, as one of the most vibrant gathering locations in town, with our distinguish decoration, lighting and the magnificent screen, not only the perfect venue for sport event gathering, also requests for advanced private party, baby shower, bachelor party. I am looking forward to hosting your stay at Cosmo Hotel in the near future and make your stay more memorable.

This Hotel is good value for money its a three star and no more ,however I did not want a posh hotel when most of the time is spent exploring the city. The staff were very freindly and helpful,we had breakfast and this was ok and set us up for the day.One of the best features of the hotel was its location, buses and trams just outside the front door, the city centre also within walking distance, and to the Star Ferry, however this might be a bit too far for the elderly.Horse racing fans, the course is literally around the corner at Happy Valley.Would return to this Hotel

Room Tip: Rooms at rear would be quieter.
