HIE is in a good time square location which means close access to local market. Mirch Masala Indian Restaurant is also close by. Taxis are available just in front of hotel. Metro station is 10 min walk. Hotel staff can keep your luggage on the day of checkout if flight is in the evening. Also Hong Kong Metro station has airport check-in.

A real gem hidden in heart of Times Square.

We had a twin room (19th floor) and the space was quite sufficient and considered really not too bad for a room in HK. There was even a small sofa settee and a little bit of window sill you could try to sit to enjoy the city view (if you were on a high floor).

There was free WiFi in the room (as well as wired internet). The WiFi was stable on certain devices but intermittent with others - I did most of my work on my netbook through the wired access while my colleague did it on his iPad. There is an in-room safe, TV, the usual toiletries, alarm clock with iPod dock, and complimentary bottled water every day.

One of the best things about this hotel is of course its location - just behind Times Square building, so access to the MTR station (Exit b2) took about 2 min from the hotel if you cut through Lane Crawford (the 2 min does NOT include the time one takes to walk along the long underground MTR passageway before one gets to the actual station control / paid area).

The breakfast was not too bad, and there was a range of Sets A to E (mix of local and Western / Asian breakfast) when we were there. One of my colleagues dined at the French restaurant on the 6th floor said it was really nice. Anyway, surrounding the hotel within walking distance are all kinds of local eateries, as well as a Starbucks a few streets away. You could also try the lunch in the same restaurant serving breakfast - hotpot I believe.

For work, you could book meeting rooms (minimum 4 hours I think). A room with computers / internet access is also available beside the lobby. There is also a self-service ironing room / laundry service.

All in all I had a good experience at this hotel - certainly one I would stay in again!

I have been to HK approximately 7 times and this was my first time staying at this hotel (previously stayed on the Kowloon side). When you are in HK you only need a place to sleep and shower, nothing fancy as you are spending your time outside exploring/shopping!

This hotel was great to come back too after a long day outside (I stayed on the 19th floor) - rooms were clean, small but decent size (we were able to have both large suitcases opened & still have room to walk), bathrooms were clean with seperate shower (vs shower over bathtub). Our beds were "firm" which we prefer, pillows were comfy also. We found the service to be great as we could call to the reception & they would assist us or if we were at the counter the service was great, english was not an issue either - easy to understand.

As everyone would say - location is perfect. Just around the corner in TIme Square is the MTR entrance. Every corner you turn is shops shops and more shops! There is a 7/11 just around the corner, and plenty of local restaurant otherwise, just a short walk to SOGO and its vicinity are more restaurants! Hotel had free wifi - did not have any issues with connection. They also have an Internet room near the reception with few computers which you can use as hotel guest.

Although you are not in the heart of Mong Kok (Kowloon side) where the street night markets and street stall snack foods are - it is an easy MTR journey costing 10.50HKD one way without the Octopus card. But there are smaller markets and foods around Causeway Bay. Walk the side streets and you will find something vs walking the main streets of Causeway Bay.

As an estimate for anyone who stays here - cab ride to the hotel from HOng Kong Station is approximately 50-60HKD as estimated by the cab driver on our final day as we needed to get their to catch the airport express. The cab driver offered us 250HKD direct to the airport which we took him up on as it would cost approximately the same if we had caught the airport express (approx 100HKD one way on the airport express per person). The meter was ticking still and with traffic congestion and all, the meter showed the journey to cost 240HKD excluding their toll of approx 10-15HKD. If you wanted to get their from Hong Kong Station by MTR - this too is easily done. But make sure you take the right exist when you get to Causeway Bay which is Exit A but then follow the B2 exit, from here it be a 5min walk to the hotel.

All in all - I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again for my next visit to HK possibly next year!

During a visit to Hong Kong last weekend we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Causeway Bay just beside Times Square. We have stayed there several times before and it is not a bad place to stay if you want something fairly basic in a good location. The front desk staff are not the most charming or friendly in the world but this is Hong Kong. Check-in was fairly speedy and efficient and the room we were allocated (2615) was fine with nice big windows overlooking Times Square and Causeway Bay. The rooms are probably in need of a makeover as they are now looking a bit tired but they are still reasonably comfortable with a small but quite well-designed bathroom. The bed is big and comfortable and the air-con is effective and can be regulated. There is no iron in the room but there is an 'ironing room' on the 11th floor where you can take your clothes to press them.

The breakfast is served in a restaurant on the 3rd floor and it was fine but nothing special. You can choose either a Western or Chinese breakfast and it includes juice and coffe- the coffee is not bad- there is an open kitchen so you can see that all the food is freshly cooked. At least the breakfast is included in the price of the room which seems a rarity these days. The staff are a bit grumpy but it's probably not the world's most interesting job! The restaurant itself is quite bright and airy- much better than W's Entrecote on the 6th floor where breakfast used to be served.

The real advantage of this hotel is its location- just across the street from Times Square and about a 5 minute walk to the MTR and Sogo with loads of shops and restaurants/cafes around. There is also a large GOD store only a 2 minute walk away from the hotel and IKEA is only 10 minutes away- a perfect location if you are looking to do lots of shopping in Causeway Bay. The only problem is that the streets around the Holiday Inn and Times Square are often very congested so it is difficult to get a taxi- we almost missed the wedding we were attending on Saturday afternoon because of the massive traffic jams near the hotel!

All in all, the Holiday Inn Express in Causeway Bay not a bad hotel. Hong Kong hotels are expensive on the whole so this one seems fairly reasonable in comparison but you don't actually get a lot for your money apart from a reasonable location in Causeway Bay and a few grumpy waitresses to start your day off!

Room Tip: All the rooms face the front of the hotel and they all have a view onto Times Square. The rooms at...

Spent 3 days at the Holiday Inn Express Causeway Bay in Sept. 2012. Our reservation was moved since the other HI we had booked wasn't ready yet. The hallway to the rooms smelled of cigarette, we were scared at first, having reserved on a non-smoking floor. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the smell didn't make it to the room, which was clean and comfortable.

The free breakfast provided was terrible. You could see in guests' faces that no one had any pleasure eating the food + the smell in the restaurant was awful. It was a good conversation starter with travelers sitting next to us. After trying twice (give the place a chance), we didn't even go on our last day.

Also, a 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door means no one should enter the room.. We found our room serviced, although we had put the sign up everyday.

I love HI Express for their great free breakfast buffets and clean simple rooms, this place didn't fit the usual standards. Luckily, the place was in a prime location, right next to the subway station.

Small room, but that's apparently normal for HK. Bed OK, but a bit hard. Pillow's are soft though... bathroom fine and clean. Breakfast OK - the pork buns are nice, the options are a little out there for a western palette.
The location is great though - right next to Times Square which has 9+ floors of shopping (with 3 starbucks if you're after a semi decent coffee), steps away from the MTR, and a couple of blocks away from SOGO, Forever 21 and so many great stores and malls. We would stay here again, merely for the location. We only really were in the room to sleep.

This hotel is very simple; in fact I believe does not posses a kitchen, but who needs it anyway if you are in the center of the action? This hotel is located in the best area to go shopping and get to know Hong Kong. The place is cosy, clean and the service is very good. The best of this hotel is its exclusive location.
