It is located in the new territories close to Sha Tin. You ave a small hike to go there. Living in Hong Kong, I admit it is a nice attraction but not essential. Many Buddhas with different faces and gestures. Don't expect to find old temples, old sculptures... Nothing is very old in Hong Kong, they usually prefer new contructions, new attractions... Anyway, the atmosphere is very pleasant and quiet.

We did not like the place. Everything is new, just built. You do not feel any spirit and atmosphere. Buddas statues are funny but nothing special. You can go there only if you live near or have seen everything in the city.

The 10,000 Buddhas are a pretty nice attraction near the New Territories!
It is pretty easy to get there! Get off the MTR station (Sha Tin) and 500 meters further the climb to the plateau starts.
It is for free and the Buddhas are pretty nice (and funny). Almost every Buddha looks different and partly very untypically.
You can see real, wild monkeys. That's funny but a bit scary at the same time.
However, the 10,000 Buddhas are a nice place and when the sun is shining, their appearance is great!

This attraction is not a must see, but I can recommend it :)

PS: Nearby is an IKEA where you can get cheap hotdogs! Yummy!

Taking a good 1 hour from Hong Kong by MTR, this is tucked away next to a cemetery (which looks amazingly similar according to the pictures you see in the guidebooks). Very colourful and interesting for a quick visit, but think twice if you want to spend a day out. Ikea down the road is fun if you want some swedish meatballs..

Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery is worth a visit if you are visiting Sha Tin. The Monastery is located on the western side of the Sha Tin Station. It is a good 10 - 15 minute walk to the Monastery from the station. The stairway or escalators to the top of the monastery is quite relaxing. The view from the top overlooking Sha Tin is quite amazing not to mention how quiet it is. They is a shop at the top of stairs for refreshments. Bring your own water if you are planning to climb the stairs. They is escalator and lift for less capable people to get to the the top of the Temple area.
