I dont now just what it is about Mongkok that I like so much but I suspect its just the energy of the place and its down -at -heal exoticism. Parts of Mongkok are amongst the most crowded areas on the planet and it really shows in the evening when everyone is out and about. It sometimes sheems that no one eats at home in Mongkok. The area buzzes till midnight but does not kick off till around 11.00 am when shops begin to open. This makes an early start and interesting time to wander and just look if you want to see people going about their early day - but not if you want to shop. Try standing in line at Tim Ho Wan the worlds smallest and cheapest MIchelin starred restuarant for Dim Sum. It can take an hour or more to get a table but itsworth the wait. Or just wander and look at how people go about their daily lives here. For someone from the west its an eye opener. Be sure to look in the back alleys behind the stores. You will see a glimpse of old China. This is a place you will love or maybe it will leave you cold................ I think it shows, I loved it.
