“If you love monkeys....”

Whatever you do, don't bother going to the top of the zoo, its very steep, beacuse your child wants to go to the play are. Its rubbish. The rest of the park is quite amazing, considering its in the middle of a city, surrounded by skyscrapers.

This is a top 5 attraction for me in Hong Kong. First and foremost the zoo is a place to relax and get away from the fast pace of life in Hong Kong. I have allways felt at peace here being surrounded by junglesque conditions, beautifull flowers centred around the large fountain.

The monkeys, apes and birds etc are a bonus but are wonderful in themselves. All are kept in clean well sized compounds. The animals look happy and well fed.

Hong Kong Zoo is anot a typical zoo in the sense it has every species of animal but I would definitely recommend it before most zoos I have seen

“Absolutely amazing place to visit”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

Besides being free to enter, it is an oasis of beautiful plants and animals in the heart of the Central District of Hong Kong. Don't miss this wonderful spot and be prepared to take lots of photo's.

“An Island Of Serenity In A Sea Of Urbanity.”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

There are few respites from the sounds and energy of the city in Hong Kong. One of them is the Zoological and Botanical Gardens. A bit of a misnomer, it is more a lush urban green space, well maintained and inviting you to meander while you shake off the stress of the city. That being said, I did find the aviary and primate residents intriguing and engaging. For the fit among you, it offers great topography for uphill sprints without the ubiquitous crowds! Accessible from Robinson Road, Garden Road, Albany Road, and Upper Albany Road, think about dropping by if you find yourself in Central.

“Pleasant break from the busy city.”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

It is a nice relaxing place to recharge your mind. As a zoo or botanical garden it is lacking, but as a place to relax it is nice. Be warned that it is on a hill and takes a bit of energy. But hey....... it's FREE.

“Nice Diversion”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

The Zoological and Botanical Gardens proved to be a nice little surprise where we spent a good hour or so. It's small as a Zoo, but certainly can't beat the free price in the city. The monkeys are well worth a few minutes to see flying around their enclosures as well as the other animals located nearby.
