“Luxury hotel quietly tucked away from the noise of Causeway Bay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2013

My entire family was booked at this hotel upon the recommendation of my brother-in-law--a former HK resident of 8 years and regular return guest. Lanson Place is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. This beautiful boutique hotel is quietly & conveniently located a few steps away from the noise of busy Causeway Bay's shopping and only 5 mins walk to the MTR. There are a lot of restaurants (Din Tai Fung is just a block away) coffeeshops (Pacific Coffee is right around the corner), convenience stores, shopping malls, etc. For the religious, St. Paul Catholic Church is right across the hotel and has daily morning mass.

We arrived at our hotel via free shuttle from IFC mall. The shuttle's drop-off point is Regal Hotel, which is right beside Lanson Place. A short walk takes you into the hotel's Concierge and a hotel rep directs you up the 1/F to check-in at the Reception. This shares the same floor as the Lounge that serve daily "Happy Hour" unlimited drinks for a reasonable price. Hot Breakfast Buffet was also reasonable at HK$130/pax.

My husband and I stayed for a relaxing 5N/6D. Although, we booked a De Luxe Room (at a reasonable rate of HK 1900+/night), we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a Grand Luxe Room on the 13/F. Our room had a kitchenette with complete dining & basic cooking equipt, 2 tv's (one in the living room & another in the bedroom), and a work desk. A complimentary welcome basket of snacks, chocolate, juices, coffee/tea, and water was atop the kitchen counter with a little note. Two bottles of water were replenished daily.

What we loved about our room was the electrically automated blinds which effectively kept our room completely dark, even when it was broad daylight. Our bed was soooo comfortable--it was soft with just the right amount of firmess in the mattresswith down comforter & pillows. Our bathroom was a little small but had a very efficient way in using up its limited space. No bath tubs here--just showers which is what we usually use anyway. We also loved the bathroom toiletries--good products they've got. Being up on the 13/F was high enough not to hear any of the noise from the street....my only complaint about the room was that although the A/C was set at 26deg, pehaps, the A/C was too powerful for the space. We somehow had to keep turning it off every so often.

The 2/F holds the gym, laundry room, business center, and function room. The gym is a little small with only 2 treadmills, a stair climber, & a stationary bicycle. It also has a few weight machines but a complete set of weights, barbells, etc. This place gets busy around 9am, so make sure to get there early. If you have good weather, you may opt to run amongst the beautiful green grounds of Victoria Park-just a 5-minute stroll.

On our last day, we requested for a late check-out at 2pm, since our flight was at 6pm. We opted to take the airport shuttle, instead of taking the MTR & airport express combo in IFC mall. At a reasonable rate of HK150/pax, we thought the price difference was negligible without the hassle of lugging our baggage around, making our last day easy & stress-free.

Overall, think this hotel is a real gem and their well-trained staff is just fantastic. Their Concierge was warm, friendly, courteous, gracious, and solicitous. Lanson Place is a great choice for business/leisure travellers who like to shop, dine, and sight-see close to the happening places yet rest amidst the luxury of a boutique hotel in a quiet neighborhood.

Lanson Place is a comparatively small hotel, abut five minutes walk from Causeway Bay MTR station, slightly longer if it's busy. We stayed for five nights: the superior queen room had a limited view and was smallish (one arm chair, one desk chair, not much space for two suitcases) but well equipped: quality bed linen and bathroom towels, high quality toiletries. Breakfast is served buffet style, with the option of cooked eggs, and it's pretty good, although for me the lounge chairs were slightly too low for comfortable eating. Staff at reception are of limited welcome, and not particularly helpful. The concierges tend to be more helpful, but not all of them are equally good at English or local knowledge. It's a very pleasant hotel, but some way from being a great one. Be prepared to travel a bit to eat at top quality restaurants.

Lovely boutique hotel at a quieter side of Causeway bay. Stayed there for 2 nights and loved the conceige for their excellent service with my bags, lifts and cabs.

Room was small as expected. The mini kitchen was a welcomed surprised but i had no intention to cook on this trip. The in-room microwave was very handy to warm up late nights lateaway dinners. I really like how dark and quiet the room is with the heavy drapes. It helps after a full night of clubbing!

My only gripe is that cab drivers often cannot find this hotel. There are no prominent signs and Leighton Road breaks up halfway... Tell the cab driver the hotel is at Keswick Street, or call the hotel.

Rooms great. View great. Not much to fault. Interesting concept in room service which is to bring you food from outside takeaways and dump it on a cold plate. The laundry came back smelling worse than when I sent it and I actually don't remember telling anyone to take it.

We stayed 2 nights at the end of April. We took advantage of the coach transfer to and from the airport which was efficient and convenient with the reasonable fee being charged to the room bill. Even though our room was on one of the lower floors, it afforded a great view of an interesting slice of the city. The room was modern, stylish and comfortable although the glass walls and door to the en-suite might not be to everyone's taste! It included a well equipped kitchenette and bottled water and a box of chinese-style biscuits (cookies for those in the US) were provided.

The hotel is superbly positioned for exploring an interesting part of HK Island (the surprisingly tranquil Victoria Park is only a short walk away) and for travel links further afield.

Breakfast was good with a wide range of high quality choices available although you are seated in lounge seating (low chairs and occasional and coffee tables) which is not well suited to dining.

Trip Advisor was very helpful to find a hotel close to our company office near Causeway Bay metro station. The stay at the Lanson Place was everything others have written about it: friendly and efficient check-in, small but well furnished and equipped rooms, nice ambience and great location. The breakfast was more than adequate (note: you have to order any eggs, bacon etc. from the table card menus) and breakfast never felt crowded or rushed. The staff were very attentive. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel and if you need anything in the middle of the night there is a 24hr 7-11 one minute away at the top of the road.

This is my 3rd stay here in Lanson Place Hotel... every time is a cosy and comfortable stay! Apart from that the rooms are very well maintained and clean. During my last stay I had a stomach upset and the night duty concierge were very helpful in giving direction to the nearest pharmacy which is less than 5 minutes walk away. The location is also very convenient at Causeway Bay. Surrounded by lots of eateries and shopping. It's about 15mins to Central where I needed to work. Will go back to stay there again when I'm in HK!
