“Best value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

We originally booked a deluxe room or whatever they call that upon arrival we were upgraded to a suite on the high floor. As you know in HK, the scenery is spectacular and the night light show is quite an attraction at night time particularly if you do not have to leave your room.

We thought HK has very expensive hotels so Panorama is a really good value for money, you are very well looked after, the breakfast is nice and we also had dinner there, the a la carte menu was excellent. We also were invited to a special private event on the club floor one evening they had champagne and canapés.

You won't certainly be disappointed.

The service was excellent at The Concierge, staff are helpful and friendly.
The hotel is located with less than a minute's walk from the MTR exit N1.
The rooms are cosy and comfortable.
We enjoyed our stay and will definitely choose this hotel if I were to travel to Hong Kong again. :)

Room Tip: Gold Room with two double beds

I stay at the Panorama on business. It is well named, with excellent views of the harbour. Eating breakfast on the 38th floor is a real treat, as you can watch the traffic in and out of the harbour over breakfast. The breakfast selection is better on the lobby floor, however, and in neither case is as good as some other hotels nearby. The dim sum is very bland and tired.
The rooms are small but well appointed in almost every respect. The great drawback to the room is that the desk is almost unusable, as the bed prevents the chair from being pulled out far enough for comfort.
Occasionally, I have had a ten minute wait for a lift, especially around 9AM or 6PM.
I have never had a problem with service, across multiple visits, and some strange requests.

Room Tip: The higher floors (30 and above?) have access to the high speed lift, and long waits are rare.

Since HK is our favorite place to go to for food tripping and shopping, I really have not made any effort in printing the vicinity map of this Hotel and once we got tickets for the Airport Express, I have realized that it was not near the Harbour City where Marco Polo is. I was told by the lady who sold us the tickets that we should get off on the 2nd stop where Hyatt is. However, the Airport express bus driver recommended that we get off on the first stop, which is across the front entrance of Holiday Inn located at Mody Road. If you are facing Holiday Inn, Mody Road entrance, you turn left, walk 100 to 200 meters, pass by K11 Mall until you will reach the corner of Hanoi Road, Hart Avenue and Mody Road. Your landmark to Hart Avenue is the Delsey corner store, you turn left. Why ride a taxi when you can walk and besides, with all the food outlets this hotel is surrounded with, you need to burn calories.

Pros:

1. Very nice location, lots of food outlets ranging from Japanese to Indian food; lots of bars and there is a classy spa being constructed beside the hotel. Nathan Road is a short walk away.
2. Subway is right near the corner.
3. Modern and clean rooms; safe ( you need a hotel key to use the elevator); very plush slippers which is comparable to 5 star hotels.
4. Reasonable room rates if booked in advance
5. Hotel personnel are very helpful, especially the concierge who was a great help in booking us at Acqua Roma restaurant at the Peking Road when we were not able to get a booking at Capriccio which was fully booked one week in advance.

Cons:

1. Very small room but most of HK hotels are this big unless you stay at those pricey hotels.
2. Small shower maybe 1.5 sq.m, not recommended for plus size people.
3. the metal ledge outside the floor to ceiling window amplifies the sound of rain droplets.
4. View from our rooms are the dilapidated buildings.
5. Free wifi at the lobby only.

By the way, when eating seafood at the noodle shops or in some small restaurants, make sure that it has no funny taste, smell and taste a little before gobbling everything. Three of us got diarrhea on our last day because of our carelessness.

We spent 3 nights here on our way to Vietnam. The location is great, convenient to MTR and shopping in Kowloon. We requested 2 rooms with views of harbour and we were not disapointed. We viewed the light show from the terrace garden. Agree with other reviewers that the evening canapes in the club lounge leave a lot to be desired but the intent is good. The staff on 39th floor were professional and helpful. The staff on ground and first floor were not. Overall, a good hotel and a pleasant stay.

I had booked another well reviewed hotel near here, but the girlfriend wanted a view which made sense, and she kicked in for the price differential. I'm glad we made the change. The view was quite amazing, and opened up the relatively (by western standards) small room. It was well appointed. The only suggestion I can make is that they swap out the toilet paper dispenser which is awkwardly placed and had a tendency to pop the roll out of the holder. The included buffet breakfast was ample and diverse. We also had access to the executive floor with drinks and munchies in the evening. We opted to eat outside the hotel otherwise, and found a nice pizza etc place down on the corner which we regularly visited.

At the top of the hotel is an open Sky Plaza (or some such) with great views. The neighborhood had several funky noodle places, two 7-11s and a dry cleaner/laundry place across the street which would have been helpful if we chose use it. There also seemed to be a couple of clubs. Not far was enough shopping to make you drop, and museums and the Victoria Harbor ferries and buses, with the MTR down the corner. It was all walkable. As noted, the Airport Express buses to and from the Airport Express train are around the block in the lower floor of at the nearby Hyatt.

All in all, this was a fine place to stay in Kowloon and we would probably stay here again should the opportunity arise.

Agree with all the good stuff written by other reviewers. Some practical tips to get most out of your stay. If you're new to the hotel and coming from the airport, take the Airport Express and stop at Kowloon station. There are free Airport Express shuttle buses to major hotels (note "major hotels"). Unfortunately, the shuttle does not stop at Panorama, but at the Holiday Inn (nearest hotel). Where's the Holiday Inn? Good question. So, you wouldn't want to be dragging your luggage, and laptop bag and back pack around Tsim Sha Tsui hunting for your hotel. Just take a taxi from Kowloon station. Ride should cost abround KH$50, depending on number of bags you have. By the way, the Airport Express ticket is HK$100 per person or HK$140 for 2. Nice.

Breakfast at the AVA restaurant (part of the Rhombus Club) is OK. I'm a congee man and I just love their congee (and its accompanying condiments). Go early (before 9 am) and take the harbour view seating to your right as you enter the restaurant. That's the less crowded area and your chair will not be bumped by people walking around for their food.

Happy hour at the Rhombus Club is from 5.30 pm - 8.30 pm. Go early, yes, at 5.25 pm. Otherwise, the good stuff like the curry puffs and the prawn rolls will disappear very fast : )

Finally, stay in your hotel room at least one night for the 8 pm "Symphony of Lights" show where the skyline of Hong Kong island is lighted up with lights lasers and other lights. Switch off all the lights in your room, sip your favorite alcholic or non-alcoholic beverage, munch at the mini bar freebies and watch the show in the comfort of your room. I feel that the light show is a bit "thin" - could do with more laser effects and a big bang. Then again, there's always Macau which is a 50 min boat ride away.

Finally, try the superb shrimp wanton noodles at any of the small restaurants for authentic Hong Kong cuisine. Cheap and good.

Room Tip: Go for the Club rooms with harbor view. Worth it.
