“good for business trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2014

This was my first business trip to Hong Kong and I stayed at Metropark Wanchai, locaation is very good, Wanchai metro station is very nearby, Wanchai Ferry pier is also nearby located. Alot of restaurent are located nearby, being an Indian and vegetarian a lot of Indian restaurent are located nearby eg Jojo's indian restaurent etc. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and properly maintained, I have only tried breakfast which was very good, the staffs are polite and helpful, excellent service.

I have stayed at the Metropark many times on biz trips. Now they have finished the renovations its has a better, more modern, glitzy reception area/bar. The rooms have been upgraded, this was the first time I stayed in an executive room and I was pleasantly pleased to be told I was upgraded to the Exec Suite. This room has a sofa and almost double the normal rooms I had stayed in before. Its always nice to have an extra bit of room and not feel like your stuck in a shoe box like other hotels.
The free minibar was highly appreciated and the room cleaned and well kept. It is a 1 minute walk to my office so very convenient for myself and during the 7's rugby it's very nice to be able to walk the 30 seconds around the corner back to your room from the madness of Wan Chai!
Recommended.

Located on Hong Kong Island it will take a little longer to get from the airport. We were given an upgrade to an Executive room. We would select this type of room for future bookings as the extra space made our stay much more comfortable. The room was well maintained and serviced with contemporary décor.

Bathroom was a good size and supplied with all the quality products required.

Le Chef Restaurant location just above street level gives you an interesting view of Hong Kong city life as you enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. Food and service are excellent. Their street level bar off the Lobby also allows you to enjoy a light snack and drink in the evenings.

Most of the late night bars are located behind the hotel in Lockhart Road but as we were on the 17th floor street noise was not a problem. By day the bars offer a good range of eating styles without the “bar girls” trying to entice you in for drinks.

Transportation is excellent with the tram system and the MTR Wan Chai station only a block away. We purchased an “Octopus” travel card at the nearby MTR station after arrival. It can be used on all forms of public transport plus topped up at 7/11 stores. You can also use it for purchasing goods. BUT to get your deposit back you must redeem it BEFORE going through immigration at the airport as there is no refund facility airside.

Getting to the larger shopping precinct in Kowloon is a simple MTR 1 station ride from Wan Chai, change at Admiralty then 1 station to Tsim Sha Tsui. Just out of the station across the road is an arcade with best foreign exchange rates in HK.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the upper floors, include breakfast and consider an Executive room.

This was my first time staying at the hotel. I travelled with a group of eight men for the HK Rugby 7's. We booked 2 triple rooms and a double comfort room. The triple rooms were spacious enough for three men. The double room was small. The rooms were clean, tidy and well maintained. The room I stayed in was on the 7th floor and faced Hennessy Road, however there was barely any noise from outside. The hotel was well placed and convenient to the local bars and shopping. Breakfast was adequate with a combination of western and Chinese cuisine. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly, polite and helpful and went out of their way to assist with any enquiry or request from our group. Overall our group enjoyed our stay at the hotel and I would recommend the hotel to others.

Room Tip: The triple rooms are good for friends travelling together. They are spacious enough with a separate...

This was for one night only after a long flight and before another flight. The hotel is conveniently located for single travelers. Probably not a family location...
The hotel room was of good size, for a Hong Kong hotel. Staff was adequately polite and helpful.

Been there second time, still very nice and staff at front desk are so helpful and help me to get train tickets to guangzhou. Most staff I have come across are with smiling faces that even better than some 5 star hotels. Even prices are higher than neighbour hotels, I woukd still opt for this hotel. Location is defintely perfect, many eateries, wanchai station, bus and ting ting are very close.

We stayed at the Metropark, this being our first trip to Hong Kong. I chose this hotel due to location which I have to say was excellent if you wanted to be amongst all the noisy bars and clubs unfortunately we didnt. We were kept awake every night, music played until 3.00 am, then the clear up began with the dust carts until 4.00 am. Some clubs were still heaving outside at 5.00 am. We were aware of the noise of construction next door before we arrived but didnt realise how loud it would be, we had a room on the opposite side of the hotel but could definitely still hear the jack hammers which started at 8.30 am and finished around 18.00.

All in all the staff were very friendly and helpful and did do their best but there were too many negative points. We booked to have club benefits. The drinks were served in the main restaurant (no nibbles at all) there was zero atmosphere in the restaurant and felt very dark and dreary, again the staff were very pleasant. Some evenings we were the only couple having a drink with maybe one other couple eating.

The rooms were very clean but so much smaller than they look on their website it is very deceiving, One good thing was that they offer a free mini bar with the executive room.

I wasnt that happy with staying at the Metropark so would definitely try another hotel if we returned to Hong Kong but thank you to the staff for all their efforts.

Room Tip: Dont book this hotel whilst they are building next door.

DOperations, Manager at Kew Green Hotel Wanchai Hong Kong, responded to this review, March 20, 2014
Dear Tripadvisor member – Noodlesetc

We are so sorry to learn of your recent stay experience at our hotel. We can’t take any control of the construction noise and the disturbance from nearby bars & traffic, that’s why rooms on lower floors have been installed with double-glazing windows so as to minimize the noise level that may affect the guests. However, if we were made known of your situation at the first hand, our manager would have no hesitation to arrange a room on high floor and away from the noise to ensure you the comfort of stay.

For the benefits of Executive Package, we will be reviewing the benefits from time to time and your comment would be taken into consideration. The lighting in the restaurant is purposely dimmed in order to create a better atmosphere for our fine dining fusion cuisine and we regret that you perceived it differently from what we would like to create. However, it is always an interesting topic of how guest feels about the hotel so that we may ameliorate and get closer to what the guest really expects.

For your information, photos of our different Executive level rooms (Executive, Executive Spacious & Executive Studio) have been displayed at our hotel official website that reflects a real layout and furnishing of the rooms. If you could provide more details of your stay, we would try to locate the source of photos and the room type you have viewed as to assert that we have no intention at all of deceiving.

Though the stay experience might not be a favorable one this time, we are still looking forward to the pleasure of welcoming you to our hotel again and being of service to you. Should there be any assistance or service required, please feel free to contact us at doo.hkwh@metroparkhotels.com.
