“Very boring”
Reviewed June 27, 2013 via mobile

Travel with family, Thought it's interesting and it was my first time to go there. After more than an hour to get there from Hong Kong island, recognised the place is small and not many things to see. Quite disappointed.

“Hong Kong Wetland Park - one of the best kept secrets”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

The Hong Kong Wetland Park is surely one of the best kept secrets of the city. Hardly anyone knows about it; hardly anyone goes there. Most of the visitors seemed tourists, mainly from mainland China.

Starts with a huge arrival hall with information desk, movie house (playing educational videos about nature), orientation areas, mini aquarium, lots of information sheets and maps, highlights of today's special programs...

Then you can choose to go to one of the bird-watching areas. These are like covered balconies with photos and info on the birds, large windows overlooking the wetlands, powerful telescopes, stools to sit on... great for bird lovers and photographers, also excellent for kids to educate them on species of birds...

You may walk through the mangroves, watching fish, crabs and other creatures, listening to chirping of birds and sounds of insects... another great experience for kids and nature lovers.

There are lots of places to sit, rest and admire the peace and quiet and the sounds of nature. The beautiful green lawns right above the entrance, with panoramic views of the wetland on one side and fountains and buildings on the other, provides an amazing contrast and more photo opportunities.

Plenty of vending machines to get drinks and snacks. Great cafe that serves varieties of food, and a great lookout to the wetlands. The souvenir shop provides another contrast to the natural beauty, but has some interesting and inexpensive gifts for kids and adults.

All in all, a must see at least once, if you live in Hong Kong, or visiting Hong Kong! Particularly great to bring Hong Kong kids who do not get an opportunity to see so much nature and creatures unclose.

Good getaway from the city but not that much to spend time on it. Its alright to go on a boring sunday. Not that special
Easiest way to get there. Get bus 969 or 967 from Admiralty or Central that takes u straight to Tin Shui Wai. Takes just under an hour

“Amazing getaway from the city”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

What, I didnt see anywhere else was this amazing method to preserve the wetlands by banning all sorts of reclamation in the suburbs of Hong Kong City.

This place on one hand is surrounded by tall buildings and the wetland which is a home to many bird and butterfly species can make you forget all your problems. Its a nice and quiet place and if lucky you'll be able to some really exquisite birds.

I recommend this place on your second last day in Hong Kong for a good and pleasant experience with less amount of tiredness,

“Tranquility in Interesting Bird Sanctuary”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

Took the taxi up to beyond Tuen Mun (end of the west rail MTR line - light blue) to visit the HK Weltand Park. Very tranquil and lots of interesting plant-life, birds, butterflies fish, reptiles, "mudlife" (crabs/mudhoppers etc) to see. The walk round takes around 2 hours but longer if you care to stop and watch and listen - binoculars, spyglasses and telescopes are provided at most of the hides. The Park is well maintained and manicured and provides a pleasant flat walk if nothing else. There are few wooden walkways and bridges through the "mangrove" swamps and a few exhibition centres too along the way.

The Wetland Park is right on the Chinese border and the large border fence that you can see is a telling reminder that you are not in the real China. The metropolis of Shenzen can be surveyed just across the border. While we were there the helicopter of the Chinese border patrol was frequently circling overhead to keep an eye on things, I think, and not trying to get a closer look and the wildlife in the Wetlands Park

A good half-day escape from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong city.

Very inexpensive entry fee was charged. It also has a simple restaurant with limited choice, which was actually quite good and very inexpensive.
