The mall across from the viewing area has quite a few shops and eateries as does the tower building; I did not find any bargains in either place. We paid extra to take the elevator to the very top sky terrace 428 and it is the highest terrace on the peak, you can see all Hong Kong skyline area from here, which is amazing and there are 360 degrees views of Hk lovely skyline from up there.

Hi it's a must do.

Get in early walk to tram for mountain climb. The rest is all views shops and photo ops. It's a bit commercial but views on a clear day is worth, go early.....

Do your self a favours near the tram entry for the mountain is the botanic and zoo (no charge) this is the best no cost activity in HK.

Avoid if you can- full of fast food and tacky souvenier shops and no easy way out! When alighting from the Peak tram there is no signage to outside where the best views are- you feel trapped! After about 10 minutes going up and down escalators we eventually found our way out and took in some tremendous views around the area on the old walks. Had lunch in the traditional Lookout restaurant on the other side of the road and took a cab down which was far easier.

I read the reviews before we got here, but I thought it seems a pity to get to the top of the peak then not go the extra 30 meters, "to be on top of the world". So we paid the HG$40 each to get to the top observation deck. I personally thought it was worth paying that bit extra, to get that better view, plus the information packs delivered via headphones were very informative.
Once we had spent enough time on the deck, getting out of the building was a little tricky, we ended up in Madam Tussauds of all places (seriously!!). After buying a load of tourist stuff, we eventually found our way out.
Yes, it is one big tourist trap, but would it be anything else?

Don't let the location (right after you leave the Peak Tram) fool you - this is a shopping mall, disguised as a touristic attraction.
Make sure not to go up the escalators to its top, as it's useless. You can have a wonderful view of the city from the peak itself and you don't need the extra 30 meters of the mall's terrace.
If you are looking for shopping (although you have no reason to, not at the peak, at least), go to the adjacent Peak Galleria Shopping Centre, which is much cheaper and has some nice shops.
