Spent an afternoon and early evening at Lamma Island. After walking up to the wind turbine to see the beautiful views, we went and walked along the beach. We sat on some rocks away from the small crowd gathering and it was a very nice and relaxing experience. I never thought that it was possible to get away from the busy Hong Kong lifestyle when I was there for a month.

Quaint little island very close to Hong Kong definitely worth visiting. Picturesque streets and cosy restaurants. Home of many HK based foreign journalists, artists, intellectual crowd etc . Path to the beach goes through wild vegetation which is lovely but the sea of course is not very clean. Make sure to take mosquito repellent they attack you even in the daytime!!

If you are looking for something different to do in HK, and want to get away from the ruch and crowds of Central, Causeway Bay and Kowloon side, then Lamma Island is a good day out. Ferries from Central of Aberdeen take 30 mins, and deposit you in a quiet backwater island with local charm, great signposted and paved walks, and empty, clean sandy beaches (I was there in winter, these beach descriptions may not be true in warmer weather!).

Walk first, then eat at one of the fish restaurants near the ferry. We missed one ferry because we wanted some more fish!!

It's a part of HK that tourists do not expect, and a welcome break from the hussle of HK shopping.

I stayed here for a month on two occasions while working on HK mainland. It was an oasis of quiet like stepping back in time, with quaint Main Street, superb seafood restaurants and glorious beaches. The Concerto Inn and Man lai Wah hotels are good, the latter being well placed for last minute ferry dashes! It's the perfect hideaway from a hectic day shopping in HK, and the people are nice too. Good walks through jungle like pathways and the ferries are picturesque. Wonderful!

Lamma island is a must do in hongkong. It is a place were locals get away from Ghent city and go on afternoon walk around the island. The two main things on the island are the seafood restaurants with lots local fresh seafood. Reasonably price for the time of attraction with mea,ls from about $20 us and the beautiful walk around the island which takes between 1.5 to 2 hours.

Some hills are steep and would-be restrictive to disabled people due to the gradient. However, the track well managged.

There are three beaches to swim on the island but they take the shark nets down in winter for repair s. The wAlk in itself is fantastic with many views including back to hongkong.

You can get there from central pier 4 or from Aberdeen. The cost on the ferry is 16 hongkong dollars each way ($2us) and they run every 30 minutes from pier 4 at central pier
