When we were tourists we really believed this was Hong Kong but it isn't. TST is tourist HK. It is full of touts, cheesy shops, hassle and tourists. We have lived here for the past ;five years and give this place a wide, wide berth. A friend of ours recently had his wallet stolen in TST by the ferry. Hong Kong is far more than TST so please be warned.

Pros: Young, hip, chic. Beautiful cultural displays, art & storefronts. Nowhere in the world will you see more Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Maserati, Ferrari's, etc.

Cons: You need to rob a bank to shop here. You'll know you're out of place if you have to look at price tags.

We decided to stay near Nathan road, the heart of the city in the kowloon side. Tsim Sha Tsui is the district fulled with shops, hotels, restaurants, bars and endless crowds and fun activity/shopping/ cafes. This is the place to be, and stay at.

Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) is literary the most central place in Hong Kong. From big & small hotels, restaurants, museums, money changers, etc, its all there at TST. Commuting to most of the tourist attractions in Hong Kong is very convenient from TST. The Star Ferry only takes about 8-9 minutes to cover the distance between TST and HK Island.

The famous Chungking Mansions is also located on Nathan Road in TST. The symphony of lights show can be best enjoyed from TST. One can spend an entire day walking around TST. From the picturesque HK skyline to the various interesting museums, from the avenue of stars to the High end luxury shops; its all there at TST.

Had a great time here. And it's easily reach with the MTR. Plenty of good food and shopping. Prefer the markets as HK shops tend to be pricey.
