“Perfect base for visiting Hong Kong Island”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

We stayed here for 7 nights. It is situated perfectly to explore Hong Kong Island. We requested a high floor and double bed following reviews we had read on TA and were given one on the 21st floor which had recently been refurbished. The bed was sooo comfy, the room was perfect, with a large fully equipped bathroom, tea and coffee, brand new iron and fold away ironing board, complimentary bottles of water daily and robes and slippers provided. Breakfast was adequate with tea, coffee, cereals, toast, omelettes and eggs made freshly and also typical chinese fare. Reception were very helpful and maps and advise provided if needed. There is a free shuttle bus service to the MTR and also to the MTR airport Connection which we used going back to the airport and was very efficient. The hotel do provide an airport shuttle priced at $150 HK per person which is fairly priced but the MTR is so well organised we chose this route. Overall a very pleasant stay and good value for money and I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor as only few refurbished at present and a double bed

after loads of research we chose this hotel purely because it catered to families and we could stay in the 1 room and save a fortune!
yes it's a little out of the way, but the more we explored the surrounds the more we liked it.
the staff were great, the shuttle easy, rooms ok - is there such a thing as huge room in HK?
kids were looked after, we stayed 12 nights, and we'd come back.
There was laundry around the corner making it great for a family travelling, 2 opposite each other one was called Sunshine laundry
The free Wi-Fi at breakfast was great - we all caught up each morning on emails, and that set us up to go out and explore. if I can make one suggestion here - a little more variety in the food offered would be good on different mornings, that said we felt like we'd moved in and nothing was a problem
If you like street food, there's a fabulous lady on the corner of Cross lane and Heard st, she became our go-to place.
The kids also loved the street food markets and were enthralled with fish being filleted whilst they were alive, frogs hopping etc.
of course there was Disneyland, Ocean park, the Buddha, the peak, the zoo gardens, Temple St markets, the ding ding tram (which leaves straight across from the hotel) the Star ferry, we didn't want to leave.
A wonderful experience for our kids, and the hotel was a big help in that.

I recently spent 10 days at the Cosmo. My first impression was that the location of the hotel was not the best. The view from our room window is of the free way below and an office block across the road. Being on the 16th floor meant we could see over this building and catch glimpses of Kowloon between the high rises and Times Square to the right.
After finding our bearings it was obvious that the Cosmo is in the centre of almost everything. It is an easy walk to the markets and main shopping precincts of Hong Kong, the Hotel runs shuttle busses to all of the major transport hubs and destinations. The Happy Valley Racecourse is across the road, a short walk past the Jockey Club takes you to the hip shopping district of Happy Valley. Inhabited by ex-pats, there are some cool bars and eateries here, an oasis in the middle of chaos.

Travellers need to make sure they take up the breakfast option when booking, the food is excellent. make sure you get in early as it does get busy. We found the staff friendly and helpfull, Our room was clean reasonably sized and the beds very comfortable. Room Service is quick.
The Cosmo is not five star but close to it. We were in Hong Kong on business initially and pleasure for the remaining week. There is that much to see and do in Hong Kong that we did not need to hang around the hotel for any longer than to recharge with sleep and breakfast.

We will definitely return and recommend it without hesitation.

Room Tip: Choose non smoking and plus 16th floor. There is no pool or spa.

Though a bit away from all the hustle & bustle of the busy wan chai, causeway Bay Area you can still walk to either of these places. Will take you 15 mins. Those are the closest MTR stations. Trust me, in HK the MTR is the way to go !

They do have a shuttle service which is quite helpful.

The ROOMS....we booked seeing pictures on booking.com and they are nothing like that and that was very misleading. A standard room which we had booked and stayed dose not even have a window ! As it is the rooms are tiny, so it made us feel very claustrophobic and very unhappy. After 6 nights my wife complained bitterly to the front office manager, who was nice enough to understand and he up graded us for our last night.......What a difference !!! Decent size room & We could look out !

So, please check . They do have rooms facing the road and have great views of the happy valley race course and the HK sky line.

On the bright side, they have a young, very energetic concierge, very helpful and patient with people like me.....first time to HK.

So, would recommend this place only if you get the rooms with windows (race course facing) and you get an assurance at the time of booking.

Room Tip: Make sure you get the newly re- furnished room , facing happy valley ! If not don't even bother...

I stayed in this hotel for 2 week. Looked at the review and ratings for the hotel, I booked my trip with this hotel. After 2 weeks, I realize that for the price that I am paying and also for the level of comfort that was said it would have, I was not impressed. The bed was not comfortable at all. The showers was very small almost claustrophobic.
For 2 weeks continues, the food in the restaurant below was totally the same. I could read out the menu by the end of the trip. There is no variation in the food choices. Since I came here for a business trip, I expect the rooms to have internet but to my surprise, there was none. I had to purchase the internet. The problem came when there was a glitch in their network that caused me to purchase the internet twice. They asked me to pay for the internet to which I asked them to check if the internet was used with more then one device.
I will totally reconsider if I want to stay at this hotel for a long term. Short term it may be good but not for long. The only good thing was the house keeping attendant on the floor that I was at. She had good english and was very friend.

My Wife and I arrived at Cosmopolitan on our third day in Hong Kong and from the moment we walked through the front door, we felt very good. Our room was assigned on the 25nd floor. The front line staff told me that it was a newly refurbished guestroom.  Our room was roomy, tastefully done with great city view and partial course view. The decor was classic, comfortable and with great natural light. All the room facilities are great with extra touches such as built-in iron board, spacious luggage storage space (really important to us!) , etc. We couldn't find fault with anything.

Really convenient location, opposite the happy valley jockey club and just a 5-minute walk from Times Square. Great having a city shuttle service. The service is very discreet, personal and attentive. All in all, would absolutely recommend this hotel to friends and Family. Thank you.

This hotel is overall a good place, one of the major drawback was the location. Though in HK things are not very far from from each other taking (Except disneyland and airport). And I guess for people from Mumbai you will find everything very close as you reach almost everywhere within 10 minutes to max 30 minutes.
And the public transportation was really awesome, I mean I was wowed totally. But when you are vacation and especially with the kids you don't want to waste time travelling or figuring out tube routes, it gets a little hectic.
We booked the standard room with single bed sharing with my lil brother, but because my cousin didn't specify his room requirement, at the time of arrival they had one single bed and one twin bed room we had to stay in the twin bed room. I must say twin bed room because of the 2 beds makes the room look really small.
However it was designed wonderfully and they have done optimum usage of space.
On cleanliness, i found everything nice and clean. No issues with linens at all.
Breakfast was an issue for me as they had a very small restaurant and it fills up in seconds, so there is always a line for your turn. Trust me, nobody likes to stand in a line first thing in the morning.
Staff is lil slow in responding to your in-room services. I mean it took them 45 minutes to deliver my room keys after the staff informed me that my room is ready.
The hotel has almost nothing for the kids and their entertainment. Thank god to Cartoon network on TV
overall, i would say its an average hotel.

Room Tip: Book a deluxe room and ask for the one facing the road not the cemetery.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your valuable feedbacks. Cosmopolitan is actually located amid the city’s busiest shopping and business districts – Causeway Bay and Wan Chai, and it’s only an 8-minute walk towards the nearest subway station. Apart from the readily available public transports at the hotel’s doorstep, we hope you will have the chance to try our free shuttle service towards 15 major attractions upon return and we believe this point-to-point transfer will offer you great convenience even when travelling with family or kids. As for the breakfast arrangement, we will take your suggestion into consideration to ensure every guest a delightful experience in the morning. Regarding the occasional lengthened waiting time of the room keys, we are sorry for the inconvenience caused and training will be reinforced to avoid the same from happening again.

Also, many of our guests are actually pleased with the various kid-friendly amenities offered in our hotel, including the kids’ bathrobe, slippers, toothbrush, complimentary snack box and teddy bear etc. We really hope you had the chance to relay your concern on the spot for our prompt arrangement during your stay. Upon your next return, we recommend you to try our Toy Suite or Ocean Park Suite which will definitely pamper your kids with an array of toys, video games, cartoon DVDs and even the Ocean Park’s admission tickets offered. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
