My boyfriend and I spent the day on Lautau Island. Took the cystal cable car to the top and headed straight for the Giant Buddha.

Great little shops and amazing hiking trails. We ended up hiking around the main hill, around 4 miles and it was fabulous. Pretty foggy, though we managed to escape without rain. Made the hike nicer for sure!

We will be back to hike Lantau Peak someday.

Thank Kari M

Went there in July, and it was probably not the best idea. Cable car was down due to the weather, so we rode the bus (probably an hour). Twists and turns through the hills on wet roads - mostly scary. We persevered through the walk up in the rain. It was nice to just stand there and see the greenery for a hot second - a sense of accomplishment. Inside, a relic of Siddhartha - the possibility of the existence drove me the most. "Im this close to him!" Art works fill the interior - beautiful.

You could easily spend a week and not see everything. The cable car from Nong Ping is worth it. Fast train connects to Hong Kong island with connecting buses. Too easy.

We had an excellent day at Lantau Island, but came away a bit confused. As a religious site, Lantau has the Big Buddha and the Po Lin Monastery, both of which are worth a visit. Having said that, everywhere you turned (even in the religious sites), you were being offered things to buy, eat, etc. This was especially true in Ngong Ping Village, which is one giant shopping center. One of the best parts of the trip, is riding the cable car, a 25 minute trip over mountains and water to (or from) Tung Chung, where you can easily catch a train into the city. If you take the cable car, make sure to get one of the "Crystal Cabins." Watching the scenery from the bottom of the car is pretty awesome!

Calm and chill. Traditions Are kept and islanders so all so nice.
Cheap traditional food.
Sea view and fresh seafood. You pick it and they cook it.
