“Most beautiful place in Hong Kong”
Reviewed November 21, 2012 via mobile

This nunnery and its gardens are beautiful and tranquil. Could easily spend half a day wandering around admiring the beauty of the rocks, the bonsai trees, and the Buddha statues.
I came particularly for the restaurant, which is located in the gardens across the road from the main nunnery complex (cross road at the crossing, enter gardens, then walk left till you get to a big waterfall). However a warning: on weekdays out close for lunch at 2.30 then reopens at 6 for supper. I missed lunch but was saved by the snack shop which served sandwiches and tea all afternoon.

Thank Jude C

“The most under-rated attraction in HK!”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

GORGEOUS garden...waterfall, general layout and set-up. Interesting GOLD pagoda in the middle. Love the nunnery - beautiful - lots of great picture opportunities. Easy to get to by MTR - worth going there!

“Chi Lin Nunnery--a surprise in Kowloon and Hong Kong”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

The beauty of the grounds and temple gave us a sense of tranquillity in the middle of such a frenetic metropolis of high finance. There is a vegetarian restaurant which serves authentic, unusual food--seemed to be very popular with locals but not one of our favorites. Still very happy to have had the experience of eating a traditional Buddhist lunch.

“calm amidst urban calamity”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

It is a part of the classical Chinese park known as Nan Lian Garden located next to a shopping arcade, elevated highways and skyscrapping apartment blocks. Kind of surreal but really unique by Hong Kong standard. It certainly is a patch of calm amidst urban calamity when I was there on a Wednesday morning at 11am, cannot vouch for it when it gets busy and packed with people.

“A beautiful building housing beautiful buddhas”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

A quite respite in Kowloon which houses some of the most beautiful buddhas that I have seen in Hong Kong.
