We went to Chez Moi a few nights ago for a Valentine's dinner.
Pros: They offer good value for money. Our special Valentine's menu was about ~1200 HKD for two which was very reasonable. And the French dishes were very tasty and well presented. The Foie Gras was a good sized portion and yummy. Whilst my Smoked Salmon was very unusual and prepared as a large thick cut type portion. Yet had a perfect melt in your mouth consistency. The salmon was definitely as tasty as that prepared by FINDS in Tsim Tsa Tsui, so highly recommended. Otherwise the mushroom soup was very sophisticated with a foam-type preparation. Lastly our Wagyu Japanese Ribeye steaks were flavoursome and yummy. I would actually recommend the Medium-well preparation that my better half ordered, as somehow that made the flavours much richer and easier to taste than the Medium I ordered myself. Service was also very good with close and courteous attention from the staff.
However the most overwhelming Pro of Chez Moi is: NO CORKAGE charge.
I'll say that again. They don't have a CORKAGE charge. Most restuarants in Hong Kong charge about 300 HKD for corkage (eg. Liberty Private Works in Central, Giando's in Wan Chai), so if you're a serious wine connoisseur, it somehow reduces the fun of your evening as you can't drink what you want. However with Chez Moi having NO CORKAGE charge, we found that a really enjoyable evening can be had by popping over to any branch of Watson's Wine cellar before dinner. Buying whatever wine you like. And then heading over to Chez Moi. That way you can have really excellent wines at fair prices. Which really enhances the fun of your evening.
Cons: The location can be hard to find. However it's near Times Square and the Leighton Centre in Causeway Bay. And it's a 5 minute walk away.
In summary. Chez Moi offers the arguably some of the tastiest and best value for money French food in Hong Kong. And the overwhelming Pro is that they don't have any corkage charge, so if you're a serious wine connoisseur, this is the restaurant for you. All in all, we would definitely come here again. And recommend Chez Moi unreservedly.
