“Good Neighborhood Pasta and Fish”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

We were walking around Kennedy Town and came across this small trattoria. Host was very nice and welcoming and menu looked fresh and interesting so decided to get our dinner there.

We started with the mozzarella caprese, which was fresh and drizzled with just the right amount of balsamic vinegar. Slightly sweet, tart and creamy all at once, and a great start to a meal.

I ordered the clam and chorizo spaghetti and fiancee ordered the salmon. I thought the spaghetti tasted great and sauce was delicious. She like the salmon, and thought it was done just right (meaning not too overcooked, like in many places in Hong Kong), and was flavorful, tender and not dry.

Overall a great Italian place and worth checking out.

One downside is the street outside, where trams would often line up right in front of the restaurant. They tend to block the view to the street and make the place feel a bit small. However, this is just a small thing to note, and definitely more than made up by the excellent food and on-point service.

“Fabulous Authentic Italian Food!”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

This humble little restaurant in Kennedy Town has become one of our go-to favorites that never fails to impress. The Bruscetta is absolutely amazing, the best we've tasted anywhere. The pasta dishes are authentic and perfectly balanced flavor combinations. The wine selection is well selected and well-priced and the service is very sincere. It is a cosy little place perfect to head to as a couple or with a group of friends. The only small criticisms I would have is for them to downsize their menu and concentrate on Italian dishes only, because they are that good! Also the music could do with an update, although last time we visited they we playing some very cool Cafe Del Mar in the background so have obviously taken notice.

“Picky, picky”
Reviewed February 15, 2014

Picking holes in our Bresola experience seems mean because it was almost perfect -- but I'll give the downside first, and from there it was pretty much excellent all the way. First, though, the name of the restaurant is puzzling. Bresaola is an Italian air-cured beef that is included in the first antipasto dish on the menu, spelled correctly. So how could they get it wrong in the name of the restaurant? Then, the wine we asked for, a New Zealand sauvignon blanc was, we were told, not cold. 10 out of 10 to 'fessing up to this and advising a Chilean sauvignon blanc instead. This was OK, but perhaps not as good as our original choice would have been, at least to our palates. On to the food ... four of us ordered a Caprese salad and a cob salad to share. The Caprese was slices of lovely, ripe beefsteak tomato topped with chunks of melting soft mozzarella and basil leaves, drizzled with a rather good balsamic vinegar. Just right. The cob salad was spinach and frisee leaves, tossed with cherry tomatoes, sliced red onion and hard boiled egg. Fresh and healthy. For main courses we had seafood risotto, seafood paella (not Italian but there are a few non-Italian dishes on the menu), crab chili spaghetti and grilled king prawns -- three whopping prawns with steamed julienne of vegetables on mashed potato and a harissa sauce on the side. All looked and tasted delicious, especially my crab chili which I couldn't finish but wished I could. Everything was freshly prepared and flavours came through loud and clear. We liked the starched table linen and friendly service in this smart but not pretentious little restaurant in trendy Kennedy Town. We'll certainly be going back. Prices are not outrageous with mains in the region of HK$120 to HK$250.

“For sure, the best pasta i had in Hong Kong!!”
Reviewed January 28, 2014

Bresola is a small cosy restaurant in Kennedy town, the new trendy hood!
The service is perfect and you have plenty of choice on the menu. We had both pasta and i was very surprised to discover a very well balanced tasteful fresh pasta in my plate: not too much sauce, not too spicy. Not too much is served and enough for any hungry man. I will definetly come back and we're making it our top 5 restaurant in HK!
