“My new favorite hotel in Hong Kong, stylish, friendly, central”
Reviewed March 13, 2014

I love this place. The staff are friendly, from the reception desk to the housekeeper. The rooms are large for Hong Kong, and whilst the building is too low to be able to see the harbor, the views across the city are still special.

the rooms are stylish, yet functional - internet is fast and free, and there is even a n'espresso coffee maker. The toiletries are really good too, the shower powerful.

The hotel is located in Wanchai, towards the east side, but not as far as Causeway Bay. It is definitely walkable from the MTR but as many have said, that is a pain with a suitcase. However a taxi from Central station is perhaps six USD, so if you can afford the Indigo, then my bet is to get a cab from the airport express station in Central.

I didn't try the food: but there is a Starbucks next door for a quick breakfast; and there are loads of bars and restaurants nearby, so I never felt the need to eat in the hotel.

The hotel bar is nice, but very small, so it doesn't take much for it to fill up. The swimming pool on the roof looks cool, but I think it was too cold in February to try!

A really good hotel, at a fair price for the middle of Hong Kong.

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side have better views

We have stayed for 3 nights....in comparison to London ( same hotel) it was definitely 1star less... great location ( pretty much centre of HK), fabulous roof terrace and pool ( the wether didn't permit a plunge).
Drinks in the bar, it was promotion 2for 1 and yet...we have paid full amount which was a bit disappointing.
Staff very friendly, booking taxies, helping with the bags, can not complain.
Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment, very continental rather than local dim sum...but very yummy.
Our lights broke and the staff fixed in in 5 min!

Good location a couple of blocks from Wan Chai metro and the tram. Very helpful reception and room staff. I was lucky to be upgraded and allowed a late check out as my flight was hugely delayed. Room faultless although the 'button for everything' approach foxed me a bit. No bath but forceful shower. Generally excellent facilities, small enough not to feel corporate, new enough to be very fresh and modern without painfully modish.. Pool a real plus, tho a bit cold during my stay - bracing tho! Sky bar interesting and only slight weak link in the staff - not very communicative , but perfectly effective.

Use the library for wifi after check out.

I chose not to eat in the hotel as there is so much locally.

Very recommended for business or holiday stay.

Room Tip: Corner room was great. The view outside is 'Blade Runner' and not beautiful but it is dramat...

Really classy new property in an award winning building, great location, lovely room décor, fab little bar on top floor... but not a single bath tub in any single room, even in the suites! Why oh why do so many new properties get built without a single bath tub in the hotel?!? The one time many people have a bath is when away and staying in a nice hotel! (I get that people hate having showers while having to stand it a tub, but when building a new property like this one in the better rooms there is ample room for a separate shower and bath). Not sure I would return unless this is resolved, as every other quality/high-star hotel I have ever stayed in in HK has bath tubs in the rooms types I usually stay in. Sort it out!!!

Dear HMSLondon101,

Thank you for your recognising us as a "classy new property". We take pride in the services and amenities we provide, but due to the room design, we do not, nor will have in the future, bathtubs. It is just not humanly possible to add bathtubs to the existing design. We appreciate this design may not suit everyone's tastes, but sincerely hope you would consider returning one day.

With best regards, Mark.

hotel breakfast and room very nice. neighborhood not very attractive. a bit distant from the tram to the peak and the elevated escalators if you walk to these attractions. i was annoyed that they tried to overcharge with extra "fees" upon checkout.

Dear NycNelson,

Thank you for your honest feedback. We are in a great location, but our neighbourhood may not suit everyone's tastes. Also I am perplexed as to what extra "fees" you are referring to, as we do not add such things to the guest folio. I would be most appreciative if you could supply me with any further information that could help me to understand this comment. I do look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back one day.

With best regards, Mark.

I really like this hotel. It's new so some teething problems but the staff are learning, keen and friendly. We had a corner room which was quirky and well designed and had everything we needed. The towels are big thick and soft. The beds are comfortable and the pillows are great. I loved the electric blinds and curtains and the room was very dark when closed The shower was hot and powerful. Breakfast was fine not great but good enough. The lunch menu had a good selection. The roof bar was stylish but didn't have a lot of food choices. I liked the pool not big but interesting glass section looking down to the street below. The Chinese restaurant next door was pricy but good food.
Its in a good location near the street markets, restaurants and Wan Chai nightlife and very closeto Wan Chai MTR stop and trams.

This is still very new hotel in Hong Kong with a very good location in Wanchai, just five minutes from the subway station (Exit A3 at Wanchai will be the closest to the Hotel) and you also have a bus stop almost in front of the Hotel (if you come by bus from HK Station, you can take bus number 6).

The rooms are certainly designed in a trendy way but not functional. Too much windows all over the room means that your bed must be in the middle of the room and the bathroom design is not good at all (as many other readers mention). If you travel alone this may be fine, but with your friends it is not advisable as there is no privacy at all (open bathroom).

Certain things in the room are good like the Nespresso machine and the Internet speed was always very fast for me.

Breakfast is not worth it to have it in the Hotel. Selection of food is rather limited and the price charged (35 USD if you add in your room rate when booking through their webpage is clearly outrageous). You have a Starbucks across the Hotel and a 7 Eleven across the street in Queen's Road East.

Overall and as long as they keep the room rates in a reasonable way (and you avoid breakfast there) it is a good option for stays in Wanchai.

Room Tip: Avoid corner rooms. They are more expensive and the layout is even worst than standard rooms.

Dear NickBkk,

We do have a point of difference and appreciate your honest feedback, as we know that our design will not suit everyone, but which some of our guests love. We will certainly review our breakfast standard/offering to see what needs to improve, although many guests love what we have, but every piece of feedback is important to us. We hope to be able to welcome you back in the future.
