Went here as handy to our hotel and a variation to the Chinese food we have been eating.
Outside heaters to ensure warmth and menu reasonable though not that extensive. Good choice of beers and a daily special promotions.
Food was very good, tasty and decent portions. Wife had the chicken quesadilla and I had the Bo Diddley Burger which the added fried egg made perfect. Potato Skins to start with. 1 glass of wine and 1 pint of Stella. Total bill including 10% service charge $420.
Unfortunately we had a group of 3 Brits on next table who had had too much to drink and for the first time in my 50+ years I had to go over and ask them to tone down the swearing, which they did. Typical that they were fellow countrymen. No fault of restaurant.

We recently stopped by the Hop House to enjoy the return of the cool air to Hong Kong. This bar & grill has open bar / alfresco tables which makes for a nice place to dine or have a round of drinks during the cooler months of the year. The Hop House provides pretty good American style bar food (burgers, nachos, pizza and ribs) and very much enjoy their extensive beer menu.

On this occasion, we had the half slab of pork ribs (HK$142) that was surprisingly excellent. The meat was succulent, tender, slid right off the bone and tasted very good with the served barbecue sauce. Fries served with the meal were also very good. The meat could have been seasoned a bit more but it was still very, very good. Generally speaking, we don't normally expect good bbq in Hong Kong, this was one of the best rib servings we've had in the past 10 years here (rating 5 of 5).

We also had a Howling Wolf (HK$95) that was pretty good. The patty was ok, not the all beef patty, American visitors might expect, but it was seasoned and grilled well and tasted nice with the jalapenos (rating 3.25 of 5).

Meals went enjoyed with Chimay Red, which was on special (HK$75 for 770ml serving), ending a very good meal at the Hop House.

Hint: Hope House is located at the Causeway Centre, making it a convenient spot for those visiting Hong Kong as part of a conference or show at the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre in Wan Chai.

Staying near the convention centre I found this excellent bar with a wide selection of good beers in bottles. Not just as many as The Globe in Soho but cheaper and not any obnoxious yuppy types. Their pizzas and food were above average - but I went for the beer and wasn't disappointed when you can get Gales HSB in a bottle

Not easy to find: it's close to the Wanchi ferry terminal but above ground level. It is a nice place to relax. It is open, overlooking a road (facing away from the sea) but nonetheless cheerful. A good range of ales including one brewed locally at the Hong Kong Brewery.
