Giando is probably the tastiest and most rewarding yet undiscovered italian restaurant in town.
Pros: Excellent view of the harbour, Tsim Tsa Tsui and Central. If you can book this restaurant on a night when they're doing the Firework displays for Chinese New Year or New Year's then you're in a for a real treat. They have perfect and unrestricted views of the harbour. The food is very yummy. We particularly liked the Sea Urchin pasta. The sauce was rich, creamy and very flavoursome. Whilst the pasta was perfectly chewy and Al Dente. Fantastic! Service was very good. The italian restaurant manager is kind, courteous and attentive. And our server Miss Cheung was excellent and very professional. The Burrata starter was also very creamy and yummy. And I liked the way our pizza came out slightly odd-shaped (ie. not perfectly round) as that shows that our pizza was home made and freshly made and we really liked this nice touch.
Cons: Fenwick pier is hard to find. It's next to the Legislative Council building and Tamar. Theoretically you could walk to Fenwick Pier from Central or Admiralty. Otherwise, they do a nice valet parking system in the evening, where you can park for the whole evening for 60 HKD.
In summary, this is a wonderful, tasty Italian restaurant with a wonderful harbour view. It's just a little hard to find, and thus is probably less well-known compared to other Italian eateries in town. But if you make the effort, you'll find yourself well rewarded. Also, it's near the Wan Chai convention centre which provides lovely scenic harbour views. So if you want to have a romantic walk by the harbour afterwards, it's very possible.
All in all, this is fantastic restaurant. High recommended!
