“Nice spot by Victoria Park; surf's up!”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

This spot is just across the street from Victoria Park. The coffee here was pretty comparable to Starbucks and was always fresh. Staff were pleasant the times I visited. The store at Causeway Bay was truly huge, and had the feel of an upscale converted warehouse (the new urban cool here in Toronto). There was always plenty of seating available.

Prices for the latte/coffee seemed a little higher than at the competition, but the advantage of Pacific Coffee, at least at this location, was the two large and shiny iMacs that were free to use for customers. Since I didn't bring a laptop with me on vacation, this was a nice way to get caught up on email, and to check all the latest news.

Value wise, if you're just buying coffee, this would be a little more expensive than Starbucks, but if you factor in the use of the computer, it's good value. This shop is worth a try if you're in the area.

“Very good handcrafted coffee in atypical urban-industrial Pacific Coffee branch”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

We stumbled upon Pacific Coffee Emporium while walking the streets of Causeway Bay in the Fashion Street area. Pacific Coffee Emporium is an unconventional move in the direction of specialty coffees from this home-grown brand, which normally focuses on serving standard coffee. It is a refreshing break from their copycat Starbucks shop model, in fact this new Emporium branch resembles something more out of the scene of the Chelsea Markets in NYC or a San Francisco coffee shop.

Pacific Coffee Emporium has a cool urban - industrial design and lay out. The coffee shop extends over what seemed like four shop spaces, and tables and seats were spread out considerably, quite the opposite to how they cram the red chairs and sofas together in most Pacific Coffee (PC) branches.

This wonderful relaxed atmosphere is matched by what is notably offered: specialty coffees and espressos, and we found them to be very good. A pleasant surprise as we do not favor the coffee at PC branches. We ordered the Chocolate Espresso (HK$29); a lovely bold espresso that held well against the dark chocolate taste (rating 4.5 of 5). We also ordered a Sumatra based specialty coffee (HK$42), watching the barista prepare the cup right in front of us with patience and care. He went through many steps to prepare this individual cup of coffee and it did taste very nice. The aroma was pleasant with a hint of something nutty (perhaps almond) and the taste was just so much better than anything we have had from a Pacific Coffee branch before. This was a medium bodied coffee with a light earthy tone, expected of Sumatran coffee beans. A lovely cup of coffee, one to be ordered and enjoyed again (rating 4.5 of 5).

Overall, the Pacific Coffee Emporium is a wonderful coffee stop in Causeway Bay to enjoy very good handcrafted coffee in a relaxed setting, and it's just across the street from Victoria Park. Based on our recent experience here, we highly recommend a stop in Pacific Coffee Emporium while in HK. We'll definitely be back.
