Review of Saint Honore Cake Shop

Saint Honore Cake Shop
Ranked #2,209 of 7,794 Restaurants in Hong Kong
Description: A bakery franchise in Hong Kong, probably 30+ branches. Sells traditional bakery bread products but has a wider cake selection than our traditional bakeries, a bit higher end as well.

“Good selection of delicious cakes and pastries”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2014

Saint Honore Cake Shops can be found throughout Hong Kong. They seem to specialize in custom made character cakes, but offer a huge selection of all types and favors of cakes. The shops display a large selection of bread products, desserts and cakes, as well as other sweet items. I prefer Maxims but always find exciting different items to take away, and have never been disappointed. Shops are usually wide open with clearly marked displays, so no problem to browse to see if something catches your eye. Wish I had one near me right now.

“Plenty of outlets”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013

They have outlets everywhere and they do tasty polo buns! Love the one with butter but the plain ones are just as good. Bought one for breakfast when I was at Wong Tai Sin Temple. Wanted to get another one about an hour later but all sold out! It's big and filling.. Yum yum yum =p

“Excellent bread and cakes”

Went to the outlet in Admiralty MTR station. Bought the red bean buns, soft white bread, wives cookies, soft cakes. Love the buns, fresh and soft. The cakes are excellent too.

“One of many cake shop and bakery options in Hong Kong”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2012

Saint Honore Cake Shop is one of several very similar cake shop/bakery franchises that specialize in Chinese and western breads, light takeaways and cakes. They compete on mostly like for like products as their larger franchise competitors as well as the vast number of locally owned bakery shops around HK.

Over the years, we have preferred other bakeries to Saint Honore in most categories preferring A1 Bakery for breads and Tai Pan for cakes. We also slightly prefer Maxims a bit more for cakes. St. Honore also sells specialized seasons treats, like mooncakes for Mid-Autumn festival. Similarly, we have preference for the mooncakes at traditional Chinese bakeries like Keh Wah and Wing Wah, which you can also regularly find around the city.

Saint Honore Cake Shops are disbursed and found in many neighbourhood shopping centers as well as some second and third-tier shopping malls so it is possible that you will encounter one while spending time in Hong Kong. Their products are fine but to be completely honest, we find little reason to specifically seek them out. If you want nicer bread products you can go to the international supermarkets and if you want very nice little cakes then find an Agnes B. outlet in the shopping malls.

If you seeking budget food options, this is a good option. However, there are many similar bakeries found throughout Hong Kong, where you can find similar bread and light takeaways for a budget friendly breakfast or snack. Again, there is no need to specifically seek out Saint Honore Cake Shop for this purpose. Just pop in if you happen to be near this bakery and not another.
