The hotel is simple spartan and clean. No carpet in the rooms and European design it works fine. Only breakfast is served, the nice buffet is reasonable and mix of east and west. Within a couple of blocks are two grocery stores, several local restaurants, and convenience stores. The tram runs right outside. In reality it's about a 15 minute walk to Central and you're on the far edge of Sheung Wan. CWB or TST have more interesting (touristy) areas right outside, but this location is fine especially if you plan to spend lots of time on Hong Kong Island.
The staff were plenty friendly and helpful.
If you are a runner or even a walker this place has a special secret. In a couple of minutes you can easily cross the highway and get over to the harbor promenade. Turn left and you've got a few hundred meters of walking area. Turn right and you can jog all the way down to the convention center in lunch, a couple of kilometers along the waters edge. You need to skirt around the ferry terminal a little bit but otherwise it's made for pedestrians, with lots to see. I spent an hour jogging down and back and it's a memory I'll treasure for years.
