We had asked a local friend to take us to a restaurant that served good Chinese food that we could eat without worryong about the complexities and where we could chat. She is a regular here because they allow your own wines with corkage. What a delightful discovery! The staff was very very polite and eager to please. The food was excellent-she knew how to choose the right dishes. The sweet and sour prawn dish in particular was amazing- so was the fish. Its so informal family type atmosphere that we had a family of 12-14 toasting with glasses of water and on another table people were opening bottles of Champagne and Grand Cru/white Burgundy! Worth a repeat visit.

Hong Kong has always been the place for Cantonese food. Recent years has seen the food scene here go up a few extra notches. My two teenage boys have visited Yixin three times now and beg me to go again. Hard to do when you live in Melbourne. Service is swift and attentive. But the food is extra special. Our family rates this place the best ever Chinese roast pork (char siu) in the world. This stuff is so tender and full of taste that the pork meat melts in you mouth. It is a must do experience in Hong Kong. If these guys don't already have a star from the rubber wheels people one must not be too far away.

A local from Hong Kong took me to "drink tea" at this restaurant in Waichan. We went around lunchtime. I must say that as soon as I entered the restaurant, I was surprised by the quality of service. Several waiters are immediately ready to attend to you. Placing your order was as simple as checking boxes on a card. The waiters efficiently serve your food in courses and present new dishes at just the right time. This was by far the best dim sum I've eaten and quite excellent service.

My friend told me that he always likes to take Westerners here because it has exactly what they would expect from Cantonese food, yet preserves its authenticity. I doubt I would have found this restaurant without the expertise of a local.

You have to try to sample the quality of food a this establishment. This is one place where you would return for more. The menu is extensive. We tried the "lemon chicken" which was the best we had in our travels and that includes famous kitchens in the western world. Salt and pepper king prawns were finger licking good. Smoked promfet was superb and well prepared from fresh fish - the flavour was well balanced and the fish succulent. We had six more dishes and these were all delicious. Having said that, the portions a good size and there were six of us. The coconut and bean dessert was fantatic. Although we do not live in Hong Kong, we derived from a cantonese family and know that the food are genuinely authentic. Compliments to the chef.
