“Must be a smokers paradise”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2014

I went to the night races which was pretty busy but not as much as I expected as with most race courses lots of hanging around between races. The locals seem to love two things gambling and smoking. Although outdoors the entire evening I stunk of cigarettes when I got home. The air was so thick with smoke it was like a British pub before the smoking ban. I didn't go back a second time as planned because of the smoke.

“Happy Wednesday!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

Something to do to check out the expat scene. Expect beers, food and betting. Some people take it very seriously but the average punter is going there to socialise. Informal and a great place to meet people.
Tip: Leave before the last race around 10.30pm because getting home becomes a pain.

“Trick to the Trade!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2014 via mobile

I visited Hong Kong on business and on a Thursday(rare) evening we came to HVR and I was surprised to know that I could do well here. This was my first race course visit ever and what an exciting time it was. We were over 20 people and enjoyed the adrenalin and nerve, whilst most of us started winning 2nd race onwards. The buffet food is international but didn't taste well to my indian palette though I loved the Hagen daz ice cream as dessert.

The race mechanism, horses and jockey all seemed great and I learned the trick of the trade pretty quickly. It's about betting low/high on high risk horses and betting fairly on obvious ones. Try it to know it!!!!

“good way to spend Wednesday night in H.K”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2014

Even if you are not a betting person a visit to the Happy Valley Racecourse is sure to surprise you. Set amongst the sky-scrappers of Hong Kong this racecourse at night, under the floodlights is truely spectacular.
We were able to book a table in one of the jockey club restaurants, so enjoyed a lovely meal ,had a spectacular view and even managed to make a small profit.
As a slightly different place to see on a Wednesday night in Hong Kong, make it the Happy Valley Racecourse.

“Great Entertainment”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2014

Cool and different.
Local people enjoys like a football match. They thrill and suffer with the victories and defeats of horses and riders.
Different from what we are accustomed to see on racetracks.
In the intervals between the races, there is a kind of party, fueled by booze and people dancing as if they were in a true night club.
Very fun!
Worth knowing.
