Owner description: From the stunning skyline to the spectacle of Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong is full of world-class sights for travellers to see. But if you’re looking for fun – to add a little ‘do’ to your ‘see’ – then look no further than Happy Wednesday at Happy Valley Racecourse, the city’s trendiest headquarters for mouth-watering food, thirst-quenching beverages and thrilling excitement both on and off the track. There’s nothing quite like a night at the races in Hong Kong! Week in and week out, Happy Wednesday fans are treated to a full sensory experience, pairing the pulse-pumping entertainment of jousting jockeys with a weekly theme that is integrated into everything from live bands and interactive games to on-course decorations and a delicious, reasonably priced trackside menu. Come in the fall and you’ll be treated to refreshing pints and a festive bratwurst for Oktoberfest – the largest outdoor beer festival in Hong Kong. Drop in during May, however, and it’s all ratatouille and brie, as Happy Wednesday hosts the hugely popular French Nights. It’s an extravaganza that’s fit for Asia’s world city, putting an international twist on a sport that has a rich heritage and cultural tradition for the city’s people. There’s simply nowhere else in the world where you can experience such a seamless blend of racing and lifestyle in one event. Whether you’re a local, an expat, or just visiting Hong Kong, there’s truly something for everyone at Happy Wednesday!

Great night out. A tourist pass was very cheap and gave access to the the parade ring and winning post. There was a live band between races and in my opinion better than any courses I have been to in the Uk.

I go here quite regularly when I have guests in Hong Kong. I am fortunate to live on the island side so I can get the tram directly and this is also a typical Hong Kong activity you must not miss - so long as you aren't in too much of a hurry!

We usually go in a group and get jugs of beer to share, quite reasonably priced for a touristy/expat venue. You can use your octopus card to enter, it costs ten dollars.

You must visit this racecourse. Best accessed by tram as the public enterance on the far side is not really that close to a train station, this place cannot be beaten for excitement, people (and horse) watching and atmosphere. The info desks under the grandstand will help you place a bet and the food is great for a large venue like this. Go on a Wednesday night as you can get right up to the guardrail on the track to see the thoroughbreds go thundering by. We walked for over an hour to get here from Causeway metro station but it was worth it.

Its a nice place to gather with friends, bet for fun, have beer and then party at Wan Chai where ladies drink for free on Wednesday nights.

Had a great night there. Paid hk$100 for tourist seating and able to stroll around. Accommodation just over the road. Also the 4 cemeteries opposite are worth a visit if you like history.
