Owner description: This historic street market on the city's serene south coast is as popular with locals as it is with tourists. Go here for souvenirs like lacquerware, embroidered tablecloths, prints and paintings.

Went here on our last day in China and probably spent more than we should have done! But there are a lot of art shops selling some very nice things indeed. Apart from 2 art pieces I also bought pashminas (3 for £10), silk bags (4 for £10) etc. Take the 6 or 6x bus from Central, sit on the top deck and enjoy the ride

Although the scenery along the journey from Mongkok to Stanley Market was scenic, it was time-consuming.

Situated by the rocky beach, all one could find in this Market is a lot of fridge magnets, T-shirts and other souvenirs, which I personally found, unattractive. Perhaps this is the appropriate spot to skip should you have Ladies Market in your itinerary.

Besides stalls by the roadside, there are some western cafes by the beach. Also there is a mall selling all the expensive stuffs.

Definitely won’t go for a re-visit.

A long bus ride to a not so special market. Anything available at Stanley can be found at the Mong Kok markets. Save yourself the time.

Stanley Market spreads out in several different directions. Sellers are willing to negotiate prices on most things, and one thing I liked was that they don't generally use "hard sell" tactics. The waterfront with its restaurants, Murray House and the Stanley Plaze is very good and well worth a stroll.

We went to Stanley market on the advice that it was a must see for tourists. We enjoyed lunch there but apart from that I wouldn't recommend it. The markets sell over priced junk and low quality items, is basically just stall after stall of the same thing.

If you are going hoping to get some quality items save your time and head to better shopping and market areas in HK. Stanley is really overrun by tourists and there is absolutely nothing there that you can't get elsewhere if you really wanted.
