I like modern hotels but I don't like overpaying. So this hotel is just right. Hotels in HK are more expensive than those in other Asian countries and this one was on the rather moderate side. Located rather remotely from the center (25 +/- 5 mins on the metro) it very new and features rather spacious rooms. I was aware of the location and must say that this hasn't been a problem. Taxis in HK are cheap so coming back late was easy.

I give this hotel 5 stars and would recommend it to anyone who can tolerate remote location. I do however have two comments, more for the hotel management if they read this. One - it is very cold in the hotel. I could regulate it in my room, but on corridors and other common places, it was too chilly. I can understand in hot days, but it has to be tuned up in cold day such as during my visit. Second - stuff in the restaurant was always that attentive. Once people got their food stuff would often focus on something else, so getting another cup of coffee was not really easy. Several times I had to get up and try to find someone. Otherwise very nice place.

P.S. Third problem I should mention, which is a problem of most hotels. Pillows are hard and high, so my neck would bend 90 degrees if I use it. There should be 2 pillows of different heights so people can choose between. I prefer very slim pillows so it doesn't break my neck.

Stayed with my husband for three days. The hotel is at a industrial area but it's only a 5-min walk from the subway station. There's also a shuttle bus taking you to the Tsim Sha Tsui and Kowloon MTR station. Room is clean and very nice. There's a Tsui Wah Hong Kong bistro and a Hong Kong style bakery which are definitely worth trying. We get complimentary breakfast and it's quite good (not a lot of variations on the food they offer, though). The iPad feature is quite nice too. Highly recommended!

This hotel is quite far away from the city central but well connected. The MTR is just 10 min walk away. We used the free hotel shuttle bus from Kowloon (The pick up point in Kowloon is somewhat wierd since you will see no vehicles except Elan's shuttle vehicle!).
They have the reception @ the 35th floor which is kinda new! The rooms were spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. Absolutely enjoyed the free wifi and the iPad. The bathroom was spacious esp liked the water pressure in the shower.

Room tip: Choose a room on the high floor.

We stayed in L'Hotel Élan for a total of 6 nights in Dec 2012. We chose the hotel based on its modern boutique style and the fact that it had a regular free shuttle bus into the centre of the city (Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon). While not located in one of the most central areas of Kowloon, the hotel is only 2 mins' walk from the nearest MTR station (Ngau Tau Kok), from which you are only around 30 mins from Central on HK island (the HK metro is super efficient and trains are almost always ready and waiting for you).

We used the shuttle bus several times, which left the hotel every 45 mins throughout the day. From there, it was only around 15-20 mins to get to the southern tip of Kowloon, from where you can catch the 10 min Star Ferry across to HK island. The bus always left punctually and we found it an easy means of getting around.

The hotel itself was very modern and the concierges on the ground floor were very helpful and quick with our luggage. Reception is located on the 35th floor, with great views across the city from the small gym and pool area, which are also located here. As others have noted, the pool area seemed shut during our stay, however the pool is tiny considering how many rooms the hotel has, so we weren't missing out on much.

Our room was clean and well equipped, and generally met the standards we were expecting from such a new hotel. The room was on the bigger side, which is a plus for HK, and is maybe also a benefit of not staying in the very centre of town. The bed was massive and there was a decent rain shower in the bathroom. The room came equipped with an iPad, which was a bonus. There was not much of a view from our window, but this wasn't a huge problem for us as we were more interested in getting out to see the city. It's worth mentioning too that all of the drinks in the minibar in the room and the small drinks area by the gym are complimentary, which was a nice touch.

We did not take breakfast at the hotel as there are plenty of places in HK to get a decent snack, but the restaurant in the hotel did look appealing (serving a mixture of Italian fusion cuisine). The APM shopping mall is just 5 mins' walk from the front of the hotel, where there is a sizeable food court.

If you're looking for a hotel with lots of ambiance and a central location in HK then Élan is probably not for you. However, if, like us, you prefer clean, modern, business-style accommodation within a reasonable journey of the centre, then this really fits the bill. We did not regret our choice and would seriously consider staying here again if returning to HK.
