It was a huge place with many many exciting rides but after coming from Disneyland which was lovely and fun and calm, Ocean Park was a shock because it was chaotic! Chaotic because it was full of loud tourists from China! Once you adapt to the chaos and the noise then only you can focus on what to do and where to go :-) For Muslim travellers, please bring food as there´s no halal restaurant inside and every single stall had Pork or BBQ pork in it. There´s many layers of Ocean Park so come early morning with comfy shoes to get all over it. There´s a seaworld of sorts, rides, aquarium and even the underwater train. I intend to go back again and finish up the rest of the rides we couldn´t this trip!

Last time we were here was on our honeymoon 25 years ago and we were glad we came back! I am not one for rides at all but the displays and animals were fantastic. I loved the jelly fish house and the penguin house was really interesting. The show was a little lame with the dolphins but as it was only short I can handly that.

The kids (older boys) enjoyed the ride, but the Gondola ride from one part of the park to another is a favourite of mine from when we first came. The park has changed enourmously and there is more to do and it is fresh and professional, with a large aquarium. It continues the theme of the Ocean and does it pretty well for a small theme park.

Speaking particularly to Queenslanders or those who have holidayed in South-East Queensland, Australia, Ocean Park is a mix of Seaworld (seal and dolphin shows), Dreamworld (thrill rides) and Underwater World (aquarium) - with Pandas (my favourite)! Go on a good-weather day so you can take a cable car over a mountain from one section of the park to the other (alternately there's a subway ride). To get there go to Admiralty MTR station on Hong Kong island, then follow the signs to exit B - Ocean Park where you can take the regular 629 bus (and also buy tickets for the park) to the main entrance. Allow yourself a full day to see and do most activities.

Definitely for older kids, limited rides for younger kids (below 7yrs old). Our activity was limited to animal visit and a few rides only. Not as enjoyable when we were in Disneyland.

We used the MRT and bus no 629 to get there from Tsim Tsha Tsui MRT Station. The public transport service was very convenient to use although we have 2 kids (5 n 3 yrs) and a stroller with us. To save time and maximize our experienced at the park, we used the train/tram to get to the uphill park and the cable car to get back to the downhill park (where the park entrance located). We only spent about 4 hrs in the park due to weather conditions and decided to visit the Victoria Peak later at the evening.

There is no Halal Restaurant in the park but noticed there is a vegetarian restaurant in the park map (located next to cable car station at the uphill park). The restaurant was so congested, crowded with people when we get there so we decided to head back to the downhill park. We got our light meal at the bakery shop near the park entrance (we bought vege. sandwich, salads n croissant with hot drinks). So we suggest that for Muslims, do pack some snacks for your kids and for your own.

Getting from one place to the other is quit a distance .. n the kids complained their feet hurts. At this point, the stroller becomes your life saver. There is a stroller rental service in the park just like the one in Disneyland and they also provide storage facility. Both located near the park entrance.

We advice family with young kids, skip the ocean park.. it just not worth it. Maybe sightseeing with the HK tram will be more enjoyable for your little ones n less stressful for yourself.
