Every street has its own magical surprise. It's so nostalgic to walk along those narrow streets and looking at all the things on display by the shop owners. Delightful for those who are not looking for modern architecture and high-end merchandise.

I love Sheung Wan, around every corner is a new delight. Food, shopping, just general hustle and bustle. The trams are here, easy access to anywhere in HK. This is part of old HK as I remember it. And its fun!

Having previously stayed in Kowloon, this was my first time staying in Sheung Wan area on the western side of Hong Kong Island. I have to say, I loved it here and will choose this area again. There are many small neighborhood shops, some very interesting to see that you would not normally see in a central downtown area. Holiday Inn Express and Ibis hotel here, double decker trams pass right then the area, lots of smaller local restaurants, the Man Mo Temple, and short walk east to mid level escalators and all the Soho restaurants there. Also the Sheung Wan stop on the MTR allows you walking distance to most of the area. You are very close to the Hong Kong Macau ferry terminal building, the Shun Tak Centre, which in it self has many many restaurants, coffee shops, travel agents and shopping. Buy your Ocean Park tickets here. The area also has its McDonalds and Starbucks.

This is my favorite place in the entire Hong Kong. It's really nice to walk here and look at all the shops. We eat fish ball noodle at one of the shop and it was delicious, but I guess everything you eat here is nice. Take your time to stroll in this area that have so many staircase that give a unique character to this neighborhood.

Our hotel was located in HK Island and in Sheung Wan. It's quite peaceful hood and very easy to go by ding dong tram from places to other.
Most of our shoppings were done in Kowloon but this side of HK isn't bad either. I believe you can see "normal" chinese life in this side of HK.
