“Excellent Museum”
Reviewed April 14, 2013 via mobile

This is one of the best museums I have ever visited. There is a great balance of displays, videos and written material. I stumbled onto the free Wednesday admission and spent a very enjoyable 3 hours there. The museum covers prehistoric times up to the present. Some aspects of Hong Kong's history I was aware of, but I knew very little about Japan's occupation of the city. The museum does a nice job of covering it all. The science museum is right next door.

To get there, follow the signs at The MTR in TST and you will walk right to it.

“Great Interactive Museum - Free on Wednesday!”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

This was a must-see for me on my visit to Hong Kong. The museum is very interactive and literally walks you through the history of the area. Every room has re-constructed buildings/displays from a time in HK history. I especially appreciated the complexity and curation of the imperial rule area as well as the buildings/boats(!) you could walk through from the original cultures who lived in the HK area. If you've been to the Museum of Civilizations in Ottawa it has a very similar feel. Also it's free on Wednesdays, although the regular fee is not high. While in the area take in the Science Museum, which is located on the same grounds.

“Great value”

$10 entry fee and an excellent travel through Hong Kong history. You need to allow 1 -2 hours as there is a lot covered and the exhibits are eye catching.

“Very Informative”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

Museum is very organize and huge. You need around 2-3 hours if you want to see everything. There are small documentary movies/presentations on each section for about 10 min. in Three Languages. The lighting is dim through out the museum so you need to use your flash if you need to take good pictures. You are not allowed to use stands or tripods in the Museum. If you have kids, you may visit the Science Museum next door. They will have fun.

Admission is free on Wednesdays!
