“Very concise education on Hong Kong”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

The History museum was well laid out and very spacious . It was easy to follow and at the same time an exhibit on the Terracotta Warriors was on and we were able to go to this as well ( for extra cost) , which was great .

very reasonable to get in, enjoyed the displays and how it shows the birth of Hong Kong, the people and the current situation.

“Terracotta Warriors”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

At the time I visited this museum of history they had some of the terracotta warriors there from China; which was very interesting and I highly recommend going there to see this exhibition!

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

The museum is a great respite from the hustle and bustle of life in Hong Kong. Well run and has good exhibits. Not only that, it has a couple of historically preserved buildings right across the street, the Rosary HIll Church. It's a little gem and not many left in Hong Kong that represents the architecture of that era.

Neighbourhood is more open than most, reminder of what it was like decades ago, when that was a mostly Portuguese residential area. Museum is also close enough to other areas of interests to take a walk on a nice day, or catch a cab.

“Double or triple the admission fee and I will still come again.”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

This is a big museum, and there is something for everyone here.

The museum arrange your walk in archaeological order. Start from hundreds and thousands of years ago, with stones, fossils, then few thousands ago with Chinese, then few hundred years ago when there were interactions between east and west, then the last 200 hundred years.

There are plenty of exhibits, both replicas and originals. They even have small set ups of farms, fishing boats, temples, Chinese opera, etc.

There are videos in small theatres for more complex issues, like opium war. They rotate the videos in English, Mandarin, Cantonese; but you do not have to wait if you don't have the patience, as Chinese versions have English subtitle, and English videos have Chinese subtitle.

I allowed myself half a day for the museum (as there are so many repetitions with museums all around the world), and I regretted it. I am sure that I will allow one whole day when I come next time.
