It would be sad to leave Hong Kong without learning more about its history. The museum has many sections to explore and the displays really pull you in.

We were visiting Hong Kong recently. I was with a friend from China. She enjoyed the museum as much as I did. There were was so much information to learn. We took our time and looked at all of the exhibits. We did not want to miss anything. I would definitely recommend.

Very well-kept museum, interesting. Lucky to have been in HK at the same time as the Terracotta Warriors exhibition.

The Honk Kong Museum of History featured an exhibition of the First Emperor and the terracotta army. This was a stunning production from start to finish with clever digital displays showing how the statues were made and painted. Then on to a stunning surround video experience of the archeological works before going into the exhibition proper. Very well laid out, very informative and detailed, the artifacts were amazing. What a wonderful exhibition. Now I want to go to the archeological site and see the real location.

As if the Hong Kong Museum of History wasn't good enough already, until the 26th of November 2012, there is a special exhibition featuring the Qin Terra Cotta Warriors from Xi'an, China called - "The Majesty of All Under Heaven: The Eternal Realm of China’s First Emperor." By all accounts, we found this special exhibition to be sublime, one of the very best HK$10 (US$1.29) we have ever spend. Tickets need be booked in advance, which can be done online at URBTIX.

We really enjoyed everything that we saw at this special exhibition, particularly the multi-media contributions and the actual artifacts themselves. We spent just over 1.5 hours at this exhibition but the best parts could have been seen in perhaps just 45-60 minutes if you are in a hurry.

The exhibition area is well laid out and easy to navigate. Displayed information is not overly wordy and artifacts are spaced out are all quite special to view. In all the exhibition felt very well planned, organized and executed. By comparison, this was a much better effort than the 'Dead Sea Scrolls' exhibition (US$25 per person) that we visited at the Discovery Times Square in NYC last year.

Overall, this is a fantastic exhibition available for the small fee of HK$10 per person. If you are traveling to Hong Kong between now and the 26th of November, we'd strongly recommend that you take the time to visit this special exhibition at the Hong Kong Museum of History, especially if you are not planning to travel into mainland China to see the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xi'an. We are planning our second visit now, hoping to see it again before exhibition is finished.

Hint: In addition to this visit, you should plan to see the Hong Kong Museum of History as well. This is an excellent museum that is child-friendly, informative with generally considered our very best in Hong Kong. Entry price is also HK$10 per adult, making this an equally excellent value for money experience.
