From my perspective, the Peak is more hype than substance. Even though one does get a good view of the HK skyline with cool breeze as company & evening synchronized light show from the surrounding buildings (not on all days), but having a top view of the concrete jungle is not something that amazes me much.

Been here a couple of times, often dragged here by friends who didn't know better. To get to the tram station , it's a longish walk from the nearest mtr station, almost 20mins. Then a longish queue at the tram station with hundreds of other tourists. The tram ride is ok, especially for the 1st time. The Peak is made up of several tourist traps besides the view itself. It's got Madame tussaud's, some restaurants and some shops. There are all average, but combine with the peak view to almost make a worthwhile destination. And if the weather is foggy that day, oh well

It would have been even better except that at this time of the year, the weather was kinda foggy and the city view was just clouded over. It was also very windy and cold and we were not prepared for the chill factor. Otherwise we would have explored the surrounds. Waiting for the tram outside the building was awful when the cold wind hit you. Check the weather and bring some wam gear if necessary.

catch the peak tram, an experience in itself and we visited in the night. boy it was a sight. but you need to buy an extra ticket to reach to the top most tower and its expensive so be prepared to carry all your camera and tripods.

You may have to contend with the crowds to travel up to the peak by the tram but its well worth it (barring it being too cloudy). The views are amazing and unlike any viewpoint I've visited.
