We travelled on the tram to the top of the peak as part of our big city bus tour. The tram takes you about 5 minutes from top to bottom but if you chose to walk up to the peak then it will take you about 1/2hr to 3/4 hr in 30 degree heat it could take you longer. Once at the top there are various shops, restaurants and great platforms to get some spectacular shots of Hong Kong and the Harbour.

Took my young family and I up here to see the HKK skyline and harbour.
We walked from the MTR up to the tram which was a nice 15 mon walk. It is up a hill but even pushing a pram it was still a nice way to see some of the city on the island.
The tram ride is awesome and you get a real feel for how steep and high the mountain is.
Pay the extra to go up on the Sky Terrace, as this gives an even greater view. Take your time to look at the shops inside the Sky Terrace as well.
Also have a look over at the Galleria shops.

My advice is to go on a weekday around mid morining. Was very quiet and only waited 10mins for tram. It was great to get out of the hussle of HKK crowds and sit down to a coffee at the shops without the noise and 100 other people standing around.
After lokoing over the peak, walk around the many trails where you can find artist etc selling paintings and other products and also there is a nice quiet feel to it all.
Overall it was a quiet but maginificent way to see HKK and appreciate the view.

Yes, the lines can be long, but plan accordingly. If going on a weekend, go early. We went at 9am, and waited less than 20 minutes. By the time we can back down at 10:30 the line at the bottom was crazy!

We had limited time in Hong Kong so we didn't stay up there for long, just long enough to walk around and take some pics. But you can stay longer, eat at a place with a view, shop, etc. But if you don't have time like us, you can still squeeze in a quick trip, just go early to avoid lines.

When you buy your ticket, upgrade to include the viewing platform, it's a 360 degree view of the island. You feel like you are on top of the world. And the extra cost is less than $3usd equivalent. Bring cash, they don't take c/c's here and the exchange they offer is a huge rip off (annoying since they don't take c/c's).

The tram journey was amazing. So so very steep. The kids loved it. Once you get up there, there are a variety of things to do. You can easily spend the best part of a day here if you want to relax and take your time. Unfortunately we only spent about an hour here due to time constraints.

Would definitely come here again if we go back to Hong Kong.
