“Nice small beach”
Reviewed June 20, 2013 via mobile

Don't expect Shek O is a large place It is small but you can have fun in Shek O. There are some Thai restaurants, a Chinese cart noodles restaurant, a seafood restaurant. These restaurants are not like those in Stanley. These resturant enviroment is causal. Shek o has a small beach, if you have time, can do barbecue there. There are few stores on the beach rent out stove and sell food packs. So can enjoy sea breeze, nice view and food there. After barbecue, just have a walk in the nearby area. You can enjoy some quietness there. It locates in Hk island east, can take bus in shaukeiwan bus station.

“The Wealthy Playground”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

This place is even more difficult to get to than Stanley, unless of course you own a car, and owning a car in Hong Kong means that you spend and you spend big. The beach was a little crowded, though what caught my attention here was more the high end cars that you would see parked around the place. Fortunately though the bus does regularly come down here, though you have to travel out on the Island line to get to the terminus.

“A Surprise”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

Shek O is virtually at the end of the road and maybe the place on Hong Kong Island that is nearest to the experince one gets when visiting Lamma or say Mui Wo on Lantau, without the ferry trip but a car/bus or taxi ride instead. On the day we visited it was heaving as it was the first Saturday with the sun shinning for a very long time we were told. It has a beach but we were unable to see it for the amount of people on it! We did have an excellent meal in a typical chinese restaurant that provided excellent food. The egg & crab fried rice is to die for! Pick the right day to visit this intersting village.

“Still the same”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

It amazes me how this place still look much the same while HK as a country develops over time. Take time to sit and watch people pass by

“Hong Kong's Best Beach!”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

This is Hong Kong's best beach for swimming and relaxing and it is also a very excellent example of Hong Kong traditional Chinese culture, both right there. Some of the best and cheapest real Chinese fast food, too. Very safe swimming area, very sandy clean beach, can even get a few waves. The sunsets are just superb as it sets seemingly just out in the water from the beach. I don't know any one who has been there who just love it, mostly due to its location, it's kind of isolated but not.
