This hotel is in a good location for exploring HK. The rooms are small but as you would expect for the price. A little tired in places but spotless clean. The toilet is good fun as well ;)

Staff were friendly and helpful. I didn't eat here.

I just stayed there with my girl for one night. There is nothing good except the location. The room are very old and super small. I could not even fit in the bathroom. To check in its toked Us 30 min. Over all for this money u will find a way better hotel!

I would have to answer "no."

A meeting was scheduled in HK and was advised that the wives of two directors shall be taking the opportunity to visit HK. As we normally stay iat the Traders Hotel (owned and managed by The Shangri-Lah group locatedin the Western District, I thought it best to choose a Hotel which is much the same price but better located for the wives allowing them to access the underground rail (MTR) and also nearby shopping and eating districts (Wanchai and Causeway Bay).

On searching the internet, I booked the Executive Suites of the South Pacific Hotel.

Unfortunately, staff are not at all welcoming or very friendly, their uniforms look like they came out of a rubbish bin and that is the Hotel's Management or owner's responsibility. As for the staff I believe if their working conditions are miserable, so will be the way they behave with customers.

Breakfast Restaurant, not at all friendly, just go through a processing procedure, food is not good and question their cleanliness and food handling. Attended their Restaurant near the Hotel Lobby; the food was poor. Obviously just serve tourists where they believe tourists don't know the difference. They deserve that comment. The Hotel deserves the entire comments made, which is sad.

Location:-
From the Causeway Bay, you need to take Exit A. It is about a one kilometer walk to get to the Hotel. To walk to Wanchai's main Bar and Restaurant area, also around one kilometer.

The Executive Suite Room was good in terms of the bed, the compact suite size was fine. The room was satisfactory but in saying that, I certainly wouldn't stay in a standard below the one we chose.

Hotel Surroundings are good if you like local eating style. Canal Road has some excellent places to eat, if you are comfortable eating in local style restaurants (which I do like very much).

I wouldn't stay there again. Rather stay at the Traders which I stay regularly and next time will have guests take the complimentary hourly shuttle bus to Central. The Traders Hotel is a practical hotel, not a luxury one but is first class. The Shangri-Lah certainly train their staff so well on all levels and that does show, detail is considered important which so many hotels fail to address.

Of course we all choose the Horizon Club benefits when staying at the Traders Hotel/s. Apologies, I don't mean to sound like a marketing company for the Traders, but just giving a clear comparison for the same financial outlay to a Hotel like the South Pacific. As for the Rooms themselves in terms of cleanliness, there just is no comparison. Rooms at the Traders are small but are impeccable and the detail is addressed. As for the services of the Trader's .... it's owned by the Shangri-Lah and that says it all.

Regards,
Liz

I tend to stay close to wanchai/causeway bay as it is convenient for work. Located close to causeway bay station and also time square centre makes it an appealing hotel in HK with a decent price tag (except when expo's are on). Not very large rooms but definitely clean and friendly staff.

Room Tip: Try to request for a room at a higher floor - tends to get a little noisy on weekends.

I always stay in Wanchai as it is convenient for my work.
I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, I requested a high flloor as all hotels can get fairly noisy in this area.
Room was quite small, same as most other hotels in the area.
Furnishings looking a little tired but clean.
Price was reasonable.

Have stayed in better hotels and also in worse in Wanchai.

Room Tip: High Floor!

We stayed at South Pacific Hotel on our first trip to Hong Kong because of the location. It's a good walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and the metro. The hotel itself was alright, definitely no frills. The room was quite small and there was always the faint sound of music coming from the hallway. The bed was pretty comfortable and bathroom was okay. The hotel had a pretty good buffet breakfast that is worth checking out. There was a small gym which was convenient but only if you need a very basic workout.

I generally stay in this Hotel during Business trips. It looks like it is a 4 Star Hotel, but the Hotel is very good and very well maintained. Very professional staff. The cleanliness and hygiene is excellent. If you happen to get a room facing the Morrison Hill road quite higher up (like 20th floor), you can get a nice view and you will also be able to spot the Victoria Peak from here.

The best part of this Hotel is it is at the heart of the city and many food joints nearby and close to most prominent offices. The Hotel is also directly connected to the Airport using the Shuttle Bus Service and it just costs you HKD 150 for a single trip against HKD 300 on a Taxi.

I did try the food only once in the Hotel and it didn't suite my taste. But I wouldn't give a bad review against the food as I haven't explored much, as the food outside the Hotel has more variety and comes at almost 1/2 the price.

All in all a good Hotel to stay.

Room Tip: Choose a room which is 20 floors plus and facing the Morrison Hill Road.
