I would have to answer "no."
A meeting was scheduled in HK and was advised that the wives of two directors shall be taking the opportunity to visit HK. As we normally stay iat the Traders Hotel (owned and managed by The Shangri-Lah group locatedin the Western District, I thought it best to choose a Hotel which is much the same price but better located for the wives allowing them to access the underground rail (MTR) and also nearby shopping and eating districts (Wanchai and Causeway Bay).
On searching the internet, I booked the Executive Suites of the South Pacific Hotel.
Unfortunately, staff are not at all welcoming or very friendly, their uniforms look like they came out of a rubbish bin and that is the Hotel's Management or owner's responsibility. As for the staff I believe if their working conditions are miserable, so will be the way they behave with customers.
Breakfast Restaurant, not at all friendly, just go through a processing procedure, food is not good and question their cleanliness and food handling. Attended their Restaurant near the Hotel Lobby; the food was poor. Obviously just serve tourists where they believe tourists don't know the difference. They deserve that comment. The Hotel deserves the entire comments made, which is sad.
From the Causeway Bay, you need to take Exit A. It is about a one kilometer walk to get to the Hotel. To walk to Wanchai's main Bar and Restaurant area, also around one kilometer.
The Executive Suite Room was good in terms of the bed, the compact suite size was fine. The room was satisfactory but in saying that, I certainly wouldn't stay in a standard below the one we chose.
Hotel Surroundings are good if you like local eating style. Canal Road has some excellent places to eat, if you are comfortable eating in local style restaurants (which I do like very much).
I wouldn't stay there again. Rather stay at the Traders which I stay regularly and next time will have guests take the complimentary hourly shuttle bus to Central. The Traders Hotel is a practical hotel, not a luxury one but is first class. The Shangri-Lah certainly train their staff so well on all levels and that does show, detail is considered important which so many hotels fail to address.
Of course we all choose the Horizon Club benefits when staying at the Traders Hotel/s. Apologies, I don't mean to sound like a marketing company for the Traders, but just giving a clear comparison for the same financial outlay to a Hotel like the South Pacific. As for the Rooms themselves in terms of cleanliness, there just is no comparison. Rooms at the Traders are small but are impeccable and the detail is addressed. As for the services of the Trader's .... it's owned by the Shangri-Lah and that says it all.
