Stayed there for 2 nights. The hotel was dated and the carpet was dirty. The new wing was markedly better but cost a little bit more. However, this was a hotel in some "rural" area of Hong Kong, so one has to dial down the expectation. The location was wonderful. It is right next to the beach. There was a buffet dinner on Saturday night and you really have to be there right from the start. They could run out of food! The food was only so so and was very crowded. However, having lunch in the hotel restaurant turned out to be reasonably priced and very decent quality.
The staff was somewhat helpful but not very competent and management seemed to be a big mess. Maybe, it was more relax next to the beach. We reserved a room with two twin beds so that 3 people can fit but were given a queen. Had to argue and fight to get an roll away bed (all booked) and then argued and fight for them not charging us hundreds of dollars extra. They even claimed they ran out of comforters! At the time we went there, the best deal is to go with groupon like purchase but we missed that. We booked with a travel agency in Hong Kong and that was okay. The worst deal was to get credit card discount booking directly from the hotel.
All in all, if you want to stay near a beach and don't want to take chances with small guest houses on out-lying islands, this can be a reasonable choice.
