“Excellent and memorable stay”
Reviewed March 26, 2013 via mobile

We booked 2 partial harbour view rooms for our family of six for 3 nights recently. A basket of fresh fruits greeted us in our rooms, together with a welcome card from the GM. Breakfast at the 4th floor was of international standards. Housekeeping services were friendly and efficient. Location is the best possible and it was easy to get around on the MTR and buses. On Sunday morning we even managed to join in the ECC worship service. We would definitely stay here again when we next visit HK.

Don't let the fact that tis is anything to do with YMCA putt ou off from staying here. The hotel is in a fantastic location, convenient for mat things and well equipped. The rooms are small. But there is enough room and its not like you spend much time in there do you? Breakfast was fantastic with a wide selection to choose from.

Next time, if there is a next time, ill see about staying there again

This hotel is located within a stones throw of the Star Ferry which takes you accross to Hong Kong Island. It can be reached easily from the airport either by a taxi that is about £25-30 or by getting the train to Kawlook Station (train station in airport) and a £3 ish taxi ride to the hotel. But be warned, the taxi drivers are unsure of the hotel if you say YMCA or Salisbury so my advice is to print off your booking form giving the address in chinese and show this to the taxi driver. The hotel is very clean and has lots going on. On the third floor you can buy a wonderful breakfast that includes just about everything you would want and in a glass fronted restaurant with great views. But you will also hear the singing from the services as there are many denominations holding church services on the same floor. There is a separate dining room off reception for lunches and evening meals. Rooms are clean and the price is reasonable. Check out time is noon so if you are jet lagged, you can miss breakfast and sleep in!

Room Tip: Rooms on the South side may have better views.

As a frequent visitor to Hog Kong i notice a increase in cost and decline in service in hotels, so i thought i would try the YMCA as it had a pool and logistical worked for me.
I found the hotel to be well appointed, sevice good, food of a high standered and good value, room a little tied but very clean and comfatable.
I highly recomend this hotel and will be staying on my next trip

This is my second stay in YMCA Salisbury Road....love it! My previous visit to HK it was booked out so had to stay elsewhere. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the location is ideal, the room is plenty big enough and has all the fittings that you need.
I was with a friend and we had a twin room with partial harbour views...fantastic! We were able to watch the light show from the comfort of our room.
It is an ideal location for public transport both around Kowloon and on the Island.
The breakfast on the lower ground floor is great as well as the buffet on the 4th floor....it's the first place I would choose to stay in when visiting HK.....just a tip when booking though...contact the hotel directly and not through one of the booking agencies as there is more chance of getting a reservation when the others say it is full.

Room Tip: It's worth asking for partial or full harbour views

The location is all these guys have going for them.

No fan in the bathroom. No complementary WIFI, no complementary business center- in fact to use the WIFI you have to go down to the front desk and purchase a little card- you can't do it from the room. No complementary access to the gym. Weird/annoying/expensive keys. A self-serve coin-operated laundromat that ISN'T 24 HOURS??? I could go on and on!

I guess when you have a good location you don't have to compete on service or amenities. I don't know how this hotel has nickel and dimed itself along for so long. This isn't the 18th century anymore- start offering what the rest of the world is offering STANDARD!

(And as a side note, Eric at the frond desk was rude and short with me everytime I asked him a simple question.)

Room Tip: Get a bayside room.

this is my third time at the YMCA. Room with a queen bed and still plenty of space, writing desk, closet, LCD TV, fruit basket on arrival, front desk and housekeeping excellent service. Hotel is located in the TST area and two blocks away from the TST stop on the MTR. There is a 24 hours McDonald one block away. Also seven eleven nearby. Two blocks from the main road, Nathan Road. ATM banks are conveniently located nearby. If you pickup a Octopus card, it's like a debit card, can be used for MTR and a lot of convenience stores like seven eleven, Starbucks, Watson etc. Buy a Sim card for your mobile phone, you won't regret it. This hotel is a hidden gem among Hong Kong hotels.
