This was our 3rd time at the ymca. As always a friendly welcome awaits you. We stayed in a harbour view room for 8 nights. The rooms are looking a little dated now but are spotlessly clean. The bathroom although small has everything you would need. The most important thing is the view, brilliant, we never ever get tired of looking at the harbour and skyline.
Great breakfast in the 4th floor restaraunt,a good choice of food. I have to say though that the tea and coffee is the worst i have ever had. The menu in the mall cafe does not appear to have changed in nearly 3 years. I would only eat there if you are pushed for time as we do not think the food very good. These are the only things we were not satisfied with and would not stop me from stayng here again.

Best dormitory room ever! I stayed here to get a good night's rest before flying to Germany. I did the same on the way back. Customer service was very efficient. I left my scarf, sent an email and claimed my scarf after more than 2 weeks. Access was cheap and easy to and from the airport by bus.

The location is fantastic. Views also, Rooms, however, are primitive and the services rudimentary. Hotel is clean and cheap but, apart from location, not particularly cheerful. But can't be beaten if you are on a budget.

The hotel is in the center, close to tsi sha tsui metro, opposite to the walk of fame and close to the ferry boat terminal.
The location is perfect and the rooms are very clean.
I choose this hotel because of the harbor view rooms, i took an harbor view room thinking to see the lights show from the room..... But at the end we went out, because if you think to take pictures, you can 't because the windows are very dirty. So i suggest not to spend the surcharge for an harbor view room.
The staff in the breakfast room is very rude, we arrived 10 minutes before ten (breakfast is till ten) and so we went direclty to the buffet to take the food (and to be clear we eat just fruitjuice and some cookies...) when we arrived at the table the waiter said in a very unpolite way that we MUST first seat, sign the bill (why if breakfast is included??) and then we can go to the buffet .... But he remind us that we were late.... 10 minutes before 10 am! At the beginning i dind't understand what he was saying, but not because i didn't understand english, just i dind't heard, and he treated me like i was an idiot!! At e end, because 10 am was early for us and for the rude staff, we ended up to go out for breakfast (anyway usually we take just espresso and some cookies, so we were ok in this way).
The room is small, but there are all the amenities you may need, and above all it's clean. The wifi indeed is a negative point: it's expensive and you can have just one device connected (so if you have 2 smart phone, just one can connect). When we asked at the reception, they confirmed us there was no way to connect 2 devices from the same room.
The hotel has a shuttle bus from the airport and you can pay directly in the hotel when you arrive. The price is about 220 hk dollars for 2 (if i recall right), so if you are more than 2 the taxi is cheaper (at the return we took the taxi and we paid about 300 hk dollars).
I reccomend to you this hotel if you are looking for a simple and clean hotel in a good location.

most of the points have been reviewed before, i stayed there for four nights end of august 2012. let me briefly sum up my main plus and minus:
+ location is unbeatable, just next to the peninsula hotel, a few steps to the mtr (hong kong subway), three minutes walk to the nathan rd
+ staff at the reception in overall is friendly and professional, they don't work very fast and efficiently but you can live with that

- breakfast is highly overpriced, €10 for a breakfast buffet, so if you are not a great eater it's not worth the money. coffee is only a thin american one, nothing for the european taste
- continuing with breakfast: seats are assigned by the personnel, if you don't have a "white" face, you will not be allowed to have the better seats with partial view to the harbour, also you will be served pretty slowly. i was especially frustrated as european born asian travelling with friends that only when they realized that i was european, i was served properly. sorry, this racial discrimination can't absolutely be justified!
- it is one of the few hotels that i hv travelled where you still have to pay for the internet. it is only possible to buy a 4 consecutive hour internet access in the room, there is not even free internet in the lobby. in previous years this was no problem, since there was a starbucks coffee with free wlan just across the street, but this has been closed down
- there is the possibily to queue for one of only four computers operated with coins for HKD 15 for 15 minutes, but mind that you might have to wait and that if you are too late in closing your pages before the end of time, the screen will just freeze, so everyone after you can see which page you have viewed at last, it is especially annoying if you are just working on an e-mail reply with confidential content
- rooms are pretty small but have a good 3 star standard, especially the bath room could be much bigger
- as many reviewers have suggested, the harbour view rooms are great; well, could be, if the windows were not fogged by the air condition and the outside windows were cleaned properly (there is no chance for you to open the windows!!)
- air condition is very strong, as soon as you leave the turn, thus taking out the key card, the room will be conditioned to 18celcius, there are no ways to set the temperature higher. personally, i don't need the air condition for the temperature, i just want it to make the air dryer, bearing in the mind the high grade of humidity in hong kong summer
- there are just 4 lifts in total to the guest rooms, so it might take a lot of time in the morning to wait for a lift, if you are not in a rush, no problem...

all in all, there are many concerns i have about this hotel, for the priced payed you can find much better hotels in hong kong, even new four star hotels, but i still return to the ymca since the location is really hard to beat and you won't find comparable rates in the hotels surrounding (peninsula, intercontinental, sheraton). i just hope that they will solve racial resentiments for the restaurant personnel and the pricey internet in the future.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights, choosing it after good reviews on Trip Advisor.
We had a harbour view room on the 13th floor which was as good if not better than our previous stay in the near by Intercontinental Hotel.
Good buffet breakfast and nice toiletries, including a toothbrush.
We were grateful a mobile phone we had left in the pool area was returned to us.
The pool was ok but a bit murky.
The meal in the restaurant was disappointing, with the steak full of sinew and a lot of it inedible, however the mango juice was beautiful.
This was the only negative comment with an otherwise good eperience.

Room Tip: choose a harbour view room

We had a very silent room with a great view, being on the 16th floor, facing the sea. We have two small kids, so we appreciated the luxury of having some extra space (hey! this is HK!) and all the basic services you need for a conformable stay. The furbishing is sober, practical, with few years on its shoulders, but properly maintained, and perfect for kids.
We had good experience with the service as well: all our requests were met in no time.
The location is perfect to commute to HK via ferry or metro, or just for a stroll on the promenade. Easy to reach from the airport via express train plus free hotel bus.
In one word: you get space, view (on the right side), location, and great value for money. You do not get the frills and the glamor.

Room Tip: Rooms facing HK on upper floors have great view and are very silent at night.
