“Wonderful-ous Experience @ Royal Plaza”
Reviewed December 21, 2013

It is a great and wonderful experience at Royal Plaza. Excellent service provided by friendly hotel staff. Thumbs up for hotel cleanliness. Room located on 18th floor is definitely comfortable and quite spacious. Bathroom is big; fits in a bathtub, the toilet is also separated from the shower area. There is a tv in front of the bathtub which is an add on luxurious facility and enjoyment (not every 5 star hotel has such facility). Connected to Mongkok East MRT station and within walking distance to Mongkok MRT station. Overall, Royal Plaza is value for money and a hotel worth to stay again during my next trip to Hong Kong.

We took an airport express train from the airport to Kowloon station after which we took a shuttle K5 bus which is free from the station to the hotel.

We stayed at deluxe family room for seven nights. Hotel is newly renovated with strong aroma everywhere. There is a gym at level eight which is equipped with the latest gym equipment and facilities. Heated outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi are just outside the gym. There are sauna and steam bath in the toilet!

Hotel is located next to Mongkok East station. We preferred to walk to Mongkok compared to Mongkok East station as it is more convenient to reach places of interests. The walking distance from the hotel to Mongkok station takes around ten minutes, via a covered overhead bridge, and you will never get lost since there are many signs along the way to guide you.

The hotel room is clean and staff are approachable for answering queries.

Room was new and well furbished. Very pleased with the 2 USB charging ports on the wall and 7 power sockets in our family room. Location is central with almost everything one can want under one roof or nearby. Will definitely return to stay if we drop by Hong Kong again.

Stayed for a few nights with wife and kids. Room was modern n comfortable. Even have a bathtub with a roller shutter so you can watch tv while enjoying a nice warm soak. Free WiFi was great.

Connectivity is a big plus. Hotel is connected to mong kok east mtr and also a big shopping mall. there is a food court for a quick bite. The flower market, goldfish market, ladies market, sporting goods market are also within 5 min walk. The hotel is 10 min away from mongkok station which has better connectivity to other major attractions.

Renovations are still ongoing on the floor with the gym. Check-in is also amazingly slow. Service was ok but not warm. Meets the mark but not exceeding expectations. Overall, it seems like service standards (not just this hotel but in most of Hong Kong shopping n attractions) seems to have dropped.

I would stay here again IF I return to Hong Kong.

Upon checkin, we found out that we had been upgraded to a club roomy on 18th floor..that was a pleasant surprise. Check-in process was smooth and fast and within minutes we were on our way up to our room. The room itself is quite small, not really as big as the ones I am used to but its quite comfortable for our family of 4. Toilet was nicely designed with covered shower and bowl area. Bath tub was a suitable size for bathing infant. Tv channels could be inproved though they do have disney channel and disney junior for the kids. But the management may want to consider a better movie channel for your non-Chinese speaking guests.
Location wise it is coveniently connected to grand century place. Just take escalator outside hotel to reach shopping centre's second floor. Quite a big shopping centre with a lot of well-known brands like mothercare, uniqlo, bobbi brown, jurlique..etc..it also sits on top of mongkok east mtr, which allows travellers to get to any parts of hk. However, if you are travelling with children, avoid MTR during peak periods ( from 5 to 7pm and 7 to 9 am)..most of the commuters are in their own world and they will not bother about you! They will push and try to squeeze themselves into the crammed train even though there is no space left! You will be better off taking a cab. There is also free shuttle to tsim tsa shui..so quite convenient. But br sure to get schedule from conciergr and book a seat in advance! For those who enjoy shopping at night markets, the ladies market is somewhat nearby. A lot of reviewers say its about ten minutes, but it seemed like more to me. Could be because I was walking with two babies. We needed to take an escalator down from Biotherm in grand century shopping centre. That led us to a covered walkway where we were told to follow signs leading to tung choi street. Quite convenient cos we were spared from the narrow street roads and traffic fumes. Ladies market is wonderful for bargain hunters, but take care of your children!
Also went to ocean park. Before arriving, I was so excited to try its halal food..but what a disappointment! Its just microwaveable stuff! And we are not allowed to bring our own food! Also, the place is quite dirty! If your spoon, straw..etc anything that you will put into your mouth drops onto the floor, please throw them away! I personally saw two Chinamen spitting and one was blowing his nose onto the floor! Yucks, disgusting!
However, the park will appeal to young children and teens. The place is divided into lower land, the waterfront and higher land, the summit. To get to the summit you can take cable car or ocean express ( train). I prefer the train cos there is priority for parents with prams. We get to the front of the queue witjout queuing. There is the panda and goldfish exhibit, grand aquarium at lower land. At the summit, you can go to penguins, seals, sealions and arctic fox exhibit. There is also a dolphin show. Thrill rides are also found there.
The hotel has a tour desk beside thr concierge, so you can conveniently book a tour which includes return transfers and tickets for HKD 420 for an adult. But do not be late cos they do not entertain late comers!

Was raining when I was in Hong Kong. The hotel is connected to the MTR and a shopping mall. Connect directly to MTR station allowed easy access to all places in HK. The room is clean and spacious. Security is great and staff is courteous. There is free shutter from Kowloon MTR if you used the Airport Express. Being the last pickup point for free shutter to Kowloon MTR Airport Express station, there will be a risk that it will be packed before it reaches the Hotel. Thus advise to book a one way transfer from Airport to Hotel and booked taxi from Hotel to Airport. Taxi cost per car was around HKD270.00 at present for 4 pax. Just 10 minutes walk to the Street Market which only operate at night famous for cheap clothing (normal quality clothing). Along the way there is a lot of restaurant along the street. So look around before you jump in.

Room Tip: Try to get room as high as possible.

It was our first trip to Hong Kong and we were booked into Royal Plaza Hotel in Kowloon. The adjoining grand Century Place was undergoing renovations but it was not evident to us as most of the time we were out. It only became discernible on the last day when we were checking out. The location was ideal as it was close to many amenities (Mongkok East MTR station, shopping mall, Ladies Market) and eateries. The room was spacious with 2 queen size beds for our family of 4. A great choice.
