Rooms are elegant and spacious and feature luxurious amenities and broadband internet access. For a place so highly congested it is a pleasant surprise the view from our window is completely unobstructed. Though the hotel lobby and some parts of the hotel was under renovation the inconvenience caused was very well managed to a minimal. We were pleased in particular with the human touch; hotel staffs were very service oriented as a five star hotel should be. Free shuttle bus is provided to guess to and from to Airport and Tsimshatsui. It is situated at Mongkok in the heart of Kowloon where there are plenty of tourist attractions, shopping centres and food outlets. Within a few minutes walking distance is the MTR station, Night market, Flower Market and a Bird lovers hangout. We attended Church service at a Catholic church which is about 5 minutes walking distance.

Great rooms, good service. It's a great hotel, especially for a short getaway. The hotel is connected to a large mall (theres a pretty good crepes stall at the basement if im not wrong!!) Do look out for the large overhead bridge nearby the hotel with clear directional signages at every exit that brings you to the local eateries, shopping spots and street markets like fa yuen street, argyle center, ladies market and a few more.. You won't get lost if you use that bridge as a visual marking spot. Only downside was that the main entrance of the hotel is not situated on street level, so don't bother taking a bus! Just get a cab esp if you're travelling in a group.

The hotel is convenient situated with 3 MTR stations nearby, shopping center next door and many makan places and shopping within walking distance ( about 15 mins walking). Room very spacious(3 rooms with 9 persons) which very rare in Hong kong. The only problem was the hotel was under renovation but it did not deter us as it has not cause any inconvenient to us as we only come back to hotel to sleep. everyday we ate 1 roast goose (9 of us) at the nearby eateries. we ordered from different eateries every day !!!!

Superb location that is nestled in the heart of Mongkok. Lots of food choice that is available even till late at night. There is even a 24hr macs just around the corner at the end of fa yuen street. Cosy bed but the finishing was a little worn but i still could live with it.

HOWEVER, despite the initial warning and the welcome pack(ear plugs) given upon check in, It was not sufficient to prepare us for the barrage of renovation sounds.

Granted, there are bound to be noise from the renovation, and I can live with it. BUT who on earth, especially hotels starts their hacking and power drilling at 7am in the morning. Mind you, guests paid good money to have a decent good night rest.

I complained to the reception who gave me a blank stare when I ask what is the authorised time to start the renovation. Note - there was not even a half hearted apology when I told him that someone is doing power drilling at 7am instead of the authorised 9am.

To be honest, the service staff could improve a little bit more.

I had another incident in 2010, but i couldnt pin point whether its the hotel fault or due to my own negligence, all i can say is that please be careful of your belongings.

My stay was during the 2nd week of October thus this review could be a little dated as the renovation could have ended by the time i write this review.

Nonetheless, i still made a booking at Royal Plaza for my upcoming stay in jan 2013, this shows how much the pro out weighs the cons. However if this next stay still have such incidents, i guess it could be my last visit to the hotel.

Thank you for your positive comments towards our hotel location.

The problems that you mentioned have been brought to the attention of our hotel’s management. After our detailed investigation, we found that the noise of drilling and hacking that you heard at 07:00 did not came from the hotel renovation. It was generated from the renovation by a new tenant in the adjacent shopping mall and it should have not started in the early morning. The management office of the adjacent mall was notified of your complaint and they replied that they would tighten the control about this issue to avoid noise disturbance to the hotel guests.

We are sorry for all the inconvenience caused by the renovation and looking forward to serving you again in the near future.

After a lot of scouring the websites for hotels in Hong Kong which would accommodate our family of 2 adults & 3 small children we were delighted to find the Royal Plaza. Very few hotels have more than one bed per room in Hong Kong, so I took advice from fellow Tripadvisors on the Forum and found The Royal Plaza completely met all our expectations & more. Rooms are newly renovated and absolutely spotless - I would even go as far as saying that we might have been the first guests to stay in our rooms. We had 2 rooms with 2 queen beds in each suite ensuring that our entire family had great comfort. Linen is beautiful. Toiletries refreshed daily. Decor is contemporary & lovely. We found all staff to be extremely warm, caring and could not do enough for us. The staff warned us that renovations were still being conducted and could cause some inconvenience but it was minimal. We ate breakfast on only one day of our 2 days & it was nice, but no Wow factor. Plenty of choices for eating within the shopping complex for all budgets. If you are looking for an area in Hong Kong with access to good markets then this is the hotel for you. Easy access to Ladies Market via mostly covered walkways with escalators. We caught 2 taxis from the airport and at around $240 (airport desk quoted approx $300) each they were well worth the less hassle & for a family it worked out to be cheaper than other options. I would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely hotel to my fellow travellers.

We are extremely disappointed and find this hotel services very irresponsible. We are a family of 4 with 2 adults and 2 children. We had booked a deluxe double double room online as early as two months back before our check-in date 30th Nov 2012. The description of the deluxe double double room is two queen-sized beds. We therefore chose this hotel because we wanted two queen-sized beds for our family. I had even written an email to the hotel very early to confirm our room type as two queen-sized bed. The hotel didn't feedback that two queen-sized beds unavailable. To our disappointment, upon our arrival, the hotel just changed our room to a deluxe king room which only had a king size bed and added an extra single hard bed. Reason being they gave our room to another tour group even though the tour group had booked later than us ! The tour group had a bigger booking and we only booked a room so they just gave our room to the tour group even we booked earlier than them. This is very irresponsible as the hotel should inform us since we had prior communication with them via email. If there is no more two queen-sized beds room available, the hotel at least be responsible to notify us since I had communicated with the hotel earlier regarding my room type. Instead, they misled us till we check-in. Three of us had to squeeze in a king size bed and the additional bed was very hard. All of us did not even able to sleep the whole night. This had really spoilt our traveling the next day. We are extremely annoyed on how irresponsible the hotel services it provides. We are frequent travelers to HK but this is the first time we tried this hotel. We will not stay in this hotel anymore and neither will we recommend to our friends. We felt being cheated!!

We were staying in the Royal Plaza from the 25-28 of November and found the new renovated Rooms beautifully renovated.
We were staying in a deluxe Room on the 13 Floor and found, that this renovated Rooms look just great.
The room was big 33 sqm and is very tastefully decorated, the bathroom is nice and has bath and separted standing shower, marble floors and walls, very nicely done.
At the Reception it was an easy and quick check in and the people from reception were very helpful, in any way, noting was too much for them.
We can’t comment on Breakfast as we had the Room only charge, but the hotel is right next to a big Shopping Center with plenty of options of Food from Mc Donald s, to a Food Court on the 4 Floor of the shopping Center highly recommended average charge about 60 HKD for Food and 1 Drink or you can go to a 5 Star restaurant in the Hotel with a great buffet.
The negative is that there is still some renovation going on, in the time we were staying there they renovated Floor 8-10 so try to get a higher floor so you can’t hear the noise so much. But it did not worry us as they worked between 9 am-7 pm the time we were out and about anyway.
Also the transport to the hotel is not convenient with the MRT you better take a Taxi we paid HKD 230 from the Airport is worth doing it.
If you go by MRT from the Airport you have to change 3 different lines (lots of walking between the different lines) and all are very busy and will cost you about HKD 180 for 2 people anyhow.
All together we were very happy with the Hotel and we will stay there for sure next time we are in Hong Kong again.

Thank you for your positive comments towards our newly renovated rooms. The hotel renovation still undergoes until middle of 2013.

Regarding your comments about the transportation between hotel and HK International Airport, besides taking taxi, there are 2 alternatives.

The first one is to take Airport Shuttle Bus called "Airport Hotelink". It costs $160 per person per trip. Also, tickets sales are availbale at Counter B 01 in the Arrival Hall of the airport and the hotel's conceirge counter.

The second one is to take special MRT called "Airport Express". From the airport to the hotel, you can get on the Airport Express in the airport and get off at Kowloon Station. It costs you $90 per person per trip. Then you transfer the free shuttle bus called K5 to our hotel.

We are looking forward to serving you again in the near future.
