“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2012

Our family has stayed in this hotel during our recent december christmas holidays. The reception is very helpful and upgrade us to a bigger room even though we paid for a standard room. Maybe it is an old hotel .. (I am not sure)... but the rooms are much bigger.... The location is fine, near the MTR. However, there are a few buys in the attached Pacific Plaza shopping mall. Overall, a nice hotel, average location, pleasant staff!

They offered 2 Double beds for standard room and which is big like 300sq ft, which is a lot bigger than standard size room in Hk with this price range for a 4 stars. If you are going to China and it's just above the train station which also linked with a shopping centre so even weather no good can still have eat and shop. As family of 4, this is the hotel we re-visit evey year to HK for vacation.

We booked a family room through the hotel's own website and they said we could fit 2 adults and 3 children in, but then there were only 2 queen beds and a relatively small room. We managed because the kids were so tired it didn't matter but the family rooms are not that big. They are a very reasonable price though and if you are on a budget being able to share a room is a bonus. There were lots of great things about the hotel -the room was tidy and clean with a nice view over the pool, the staff were friendly and let us check in early and provided ice-cream for the kids while we waited :-). The buffet breakfast was good quality. The best part of the hotel for the kids (and us!) was the pool with its underwater music! The pool is long enough to swim real laps and big enough for the kids to have lots of fun. There is also a spa pool and sauna - all were well maintained and clean. The mall next door was handy to get food and there is a supermarket on the top floor. The train station in the mall makes it easy to get around. All in all I recommend this hotel as good value for families with everything you need close by or accessible by train.

Room Tip: Cheapest prices seemed to be through the hotels own website, not travel websites.

Booked 2 superior rooms via Agoda in Jul/Aug 2010 with extra beds for each. Quite spacious, better than I expected of HK hotel rooms. TV has many cable channels. Furnishing is pretty nice.

Gym is adequately equipped and well maintained, though didn't get to use it. Pool is understandably shallow but beautifully decorated, I liked the 'roman' deco. They have jacuzzi too, enjoyed it for a while. A mall is literally right next to the hotel, so is quite convenient for some shopping.

Checking in took a bit of time but not a problem for me. Staff are professional and when my mom seemed to have lost her phone when we were checking out, the senior staff helped us search the whole room and were very accomodating all that time despite my mom's anxiety. It wasn't stolen or lost but was misplaced, a mistake on our part.

May be a bit pricey for some but I enjoyed my stay there, will go back again if I am not not a tight budget. Best to book a room with 2-3 people, so room cost can be shared and lowered for each.

Stayed here during the recent Christmas break with my family, 2 adults, 2 kids (under 7) & 1 infant.

The hotel is located at the northeastern side of Mongkok, one of the busiest areas in Hong Kong. It is accessible by Airport Express Free Shuttle Bus K from Kowloon station. Directly underneath the hotel is Mongkok East Station, not to be confused with the Mongkok MTR Station which is a 10-minute walk away. The 10-minute walk to Mongkok MTR Station is along a completely-sheltered huge overhead walkway, so you don't have to worry about making the journey with kids through the busy roads, and no worries if it rains too!

The hotel is adjoined to a decent shopping complex, which is currently under renovations. As such, some outlets may not be available. However, the restaurants located on the 7th & 8th Floors are still in operation, and the foods are definitely as authentic as one can get in HK without busting your wallet. And there's also a cineplex that's screening some of the latest blockbusters, if you fancy catching a movie at night.

Due to its adjoining to the shopping complex, the hotel does have some decent security in place to check for any suspicious characters loitering within the hotel premises. All elevators require room key to access, and after 21:00hr, one of the hotel receptionists will be stationed prior to our access to the lift to verify our room numbers. Not many hotels will go to this extend to prevent unauthorized access, so I'd say it's really a nice feature of this hotel!

The hotel has only 10 floors for its rooms, but each floor can accommodate up to 50 rooms! So be prepared to have a long walk to your room.

Our room was on the 17th Floor, and as we'd asked for a Family room, the room is equipped with 1 Queen bed & 1 Single bed. As the room is sufficiently spacious, we asked for another extra bed for the sleeping comfort of the 2 kids. Do take note that, though the room is spacious, this comes at the expense of the bathroom space. As such, you'd find the bathroom a bit small, as compared to a normal hotel room. But for the convenience and price that we're paying for the room, we're willing to put up with this little inconvenience.

The staffs are attentive and willing to assist, whenever possible. And despite the large crowd during the Christmas periods, they've all maintained their professionalism and politeness towards the guests that they were serving. Good job!

Recently spent a week at the Royal Plaza Hotel, right at the heart of Mongkok, Hong Kong. What impressed me was the size of the room. Given the impression that Hong Kong hotels (I'm not referring to 5-star suites or penhouses, of course) usually have comparatively smaller rooms, this was huge! I have chosen a queen and super-single for my family of four, and we still have room to manouvre and luggage space!

Attention to details are spot on. Newspapers are delivered daily without prompting even on our checkout day. I know this isn't a deal breaker for most, but for me, this comes as a pleasant surprise. My previous stay at another hotel needed to be prompted. Room service was fast and excellently done; all utilities are promptly refilled.

One strong point of this hotel is its location. Right smack in Mongkok, where you can get whatever you want without wandering too far off - from apparels, restaurant and street food, photography and audio equipment, and other knick-knacks. Almost everything is within reach. Of course, you have got to put up with throngs of crowds at the nearby streets - and it's pretty intimidating at first! And talking about food, you have got to try Tai Heng if you're into roast meats. Their roast goose, suckling pig and authentic "char-siew" is simply out of this world (do note it's non-halal).

Overall, this is a good hotel for families or those who are bent on shopping. You've got literally everything at your doorstep!
