“Great Improvement Over the Years!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2012

I had a not so great experience at this hotel a few years ago. The room was small, dingy and the plumbing did not work so well. When I travel in this part of Asia for business, my requirements are few...safe, clean and someone in the building can speak to me in a bit of English.

This stay at the RPH exceeded my expectations in all categories. I was there only for about 8 hours, long enough for an extended nap, shower and breakfast, and I was truly sorry to leave. I was upgraded to an executive room in the Pacific Tower and it was very generously sized. The amenities were gracious, the bed was comfortable, the TV was gigantic and the view OK. The fresh pears were a very nice touch. Unlike many properties, the A/C worked very well and adjusted to your needs.

The breakfast buffet included in my rate was very good. Western comfort food and local specialties combined for well-prepared variety for everyone in the morning. The service was also fairly good.

The staff at the hotel are friendly, on-point and you feel very secure. I left town for a day and they were very helpful with my baggage upon my return. They do not have shower rooms or such when you return, but they offered very specific other options to get prepared for the journey home, which I appreciated. The lobby was also nicely decorated for the holidays, including a very innovative "tree" made out of plastic drink bottles.

I cannot express how thoroughly I enjoyed this visit and the value received for the money.

Room Tip: Upgrade your room if you can.

This hotel sits right in between the Victoria harbour and the Kowloon Park (it has a connecting bridge) on the lower floors is a mall with a lot of stores (you're in HK,so that's a given!)and the HK China ferry terminal - where you could get your tickets and get on ferries if you want to go if you want to go to Macau. The rooms on the older towers are a lot bigger, rooms with the view is of course a lot better than those with the city view.

Room Tip: Harbour View on the older towers where the rooms are a lot bigger!

This hotel is located right next to the Harbor City and the ferry station. Right across the street was the famous restaurant The Sweet Dynasty. We stayed here from Dec 4th to 7th.

The hotel room is very small and kinda noisy because you can hear the noise from the street even you stay on the 12th floor.

The first night we were checked in on the 8th floor ( we were supposed to get a 16th floor room). The front desk guy told us it's a newly renovated room its more expensive than the one we booked online. So we were like ok. But the room was noisy. Ceiling kept making loud noise, and the noise from the street were super loud as well. We could not sleep the whole night. So we called the front desk the next day early morning requesting a room change. At first our call got transferred several times finally a guy said we will be transferred to another room, and it's gonna be on the 12th floor, we just need to call them again once we've done packing. After we packed, my mom called front desk again, another lady answered the phone but apparently she doesnt know anything about our situation and she misunderstood my mom (come on, its not like you don't understand CHINESE!!). She sent a bell staff to help us get our luggage because she thought we were checking out!! So we went the bell staff back and called front desk again. Finally they said they gonna changed the room for us they just need to find a vacant room for today's check-in because they were fully booked. But hello? Didn't the guy already tell us there was a vacant room on the 12th floor already? It's 30 mins past but we were still waiting for their call. My mom got upset and angry so we decided to go to the Sweet Dynasty to have breakfast first.

After we came back to the hotel, we went straight to the front desk and asked for a room change. After 10 minutes they gave us a room on the 12th floor. What kind of slow service is that?

The next night we were trying to figure out how to get to the big buddha by taking the subway from our hotel. My boyfriend stayed with his coworkers on the other side of the island so we decided to meet with him outside the subway station. But we had no idea how many exits were there and which exit we should meet at. So I went to the concierge and asked their bell staff. The guy who answered my question were very impatient and cold. He's not helpful at all. He kept told us there was only one exit at that subway. But actually there were so many exits and there was one specifically to the buddha.

Every morning when we were waiting the elevator to get downstairs, there was always housekeeping lady asking us which room did we come from. I guess she just wanted to clean the room as soon as possible. But can't you see when you talked to us, the elevator was already there widely open waiting for us to get in? We almost missed one elevator just because we were stopped by you. What's wrong with this hotel's staff?

Management if you see this comment please consider rehiring and replacing your staff. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at.

I booked this hotel only because they were listed as an Asia Miles member hotel. It's become common practice for some unscrupulous hotels in HK to deny Asia Miles for "special rates" but they never tell you on the website before or after purchasing that the room you are getting is ineligible for Asia Miles. This is one of those hotels. Without Asia Miles this hotel isn't worth it. They claim they gave us an "upgrade" but the room was smaller than a regular room I stayed in previously. Lady at check-out counter was rude and has no CS skills.

Right there on Canton road, next to China ferry terminal & Victoria harbor - the location could not have been better. The only negative point will be that there is no nice harbor view from the rooms. We stayed in Towers wing which was very nice - I guess that's there upper grade rooms. Rooms are very nice, bathroom is even nicer, service quality is good, breakfast is also nice. Lovely view from the club lounge. They also have free airport shuttle service to the Kowloon station which is very very convenient. Think this hotel is worth for the all inclusive corporate rates - about 2K HKD per night.

Room Tip: Pick up the room in the Towers wing.

This hotel is conveniently located on Canton Road and walking distance to Nathan Road and the Star Ferry. Lots of shopping and restaurants in the area. We had a room in the tower wing and it was roomy and had a decent view. Many of the hotel staff speak English and are very accommodating. The rooms are a bit dated but comfortable and clean. If you don't smoke, make sure to ask for a non-smoking room. The breakfast buffet is pricey but excellent.

Room Tip: ask for room in the tower wing

Stayed here for 2 nights and out of the 3 hotels in our China tour, this was the least impressive. The rooms were a let down, the matteress was the most hardest mattress i have ever slept on, there was no comfort. Room itself was so small, just enough to swing a cat! The bathroom was dated and there was a strong smell of chlorene! As we were only sleeping there (trying to) we didnt say anything. Breakfast was excellent, great choice. Location was excellent too, right on a main shopping road - if your into gucci/prada etc that is!

Overall good hotel, need to improve their rooms tho!
