“Convenient location, good value suite”
Reviewed February 3, 2010

The hotel is on a good location, a few minutes walk from the Tin Hau MTR station, so it's not quite in Causeway bay as the hotel name would suggest, but still in quite central location. There is also a bus stop in front of the hotel, and the hotel has some free shuttle, but we only used the MTR, since it was close by and easy to use.

We had the executive parlour room, since we found a very good deal for it on hotels.com. We usually take standard rooms, but this time we welcomed the extra space, since we were travelling with our 6-month old son. The executive parlour has living room, bedroom and two bathrooms, and I would guess that it covers the space of two standard rooms. The bedroom was quite a tight fit with the baby cot, but with having the living room space as extra it didn't really matter.

The room looked new, clean and elegant. Both rooms had a nice view towards the harbor. The free broadband internet in the room was great to have.

The breakfast was good, but maybe not quite as varied as we were used to in Thailand earlier on the trip. My sweet tooth was hurting on the very narrow selection of sweet pastries and the absence of pancakes.

We were very pleased with the services of the club lounge (available only for executive rooms) including the evening free drinks and tasty snacks, and the almost private breakfast.

The staff was friendly and attentive, especially the staff at the club lounge.

There was a 7-Eleven next door to the hotel, and a lot of small local restaurants (and a MacDonald's) nearby, which was very convenient.

A word of warning to families travelling with small children in Hong Kong: Most MTR stations seem to have only stairs from the street level to the concourse, so we had to carry the stroller up and down quite a many sets of stairs during the trip. You can call MTR station staff to help, but it might take a while for them to arrive. Locals were often helpful and offered to help with the carrying, if I was on the move without my husband.

This was an excellent hotel. We stayed for 5 days. The room was clean and fairly modern. The service was awesome. Beds were clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and will go out of their way to help you. We also ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant pretty much every morning. (Get the french toast!)

It's centrally located and easy to get anywhere in town quickly.

Only negative thing was the TV was an old CRT, but who really cares about that.

A very modern high rise hotel, with fairly small standard rooms. We stayed 3 nights on a stopover to New Zealand. We had booked a harbour view and that was a little disappointing but not a major thing. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. We found some of the hotel facilities a little odd but maybe that was just our jet lag. The bar seemed to be reserved for sing-a-longs and the restaurant gave me the impression of a cafeteria rather than a restaurant in a nice hotel. It could be that we missed another restaurant. Having said that, why bother with them as Hong Kong has a thousand and one restaurants and places to drink, and many within walking distance. We tried the local restaurants and they were very good, cheap, and full of locals not tourists.

If you want to wake yourself up after a long flight, go up to the roof top health club and swimming pool. We tried the pool in December. It is outdoors on the 32nd floor, isn't heated and is what the brochures might refer to as "refreshing". It's worth visiting just for the views. The health club provides towels, lockers, showers and saunas in the changing rooms. There is no charge for these facilities.

The hotel itself is about 100 yards from Tin Hau MTR station, 50 yards from a tram stop, and fairly close to the bus stops for the A11 express bus from the airport. It is on the same road and only 50 yards from the bus stop for the A11 bus back to the airport. The journey to and from the airport is just over an hour as traffic can be heavy but only costs HKD 40 per person. You can use an Octopus card on these. For anyone having doubts about using the MTR, don't worry. Everything is in English as well as Cantonese and all the popular attractions have their correct station exits signposted. It is fast, efficient, air-conditioned and cheap. Just the like the London underground (LOL).

Upon arrival we were offered an upgrade of our room which cost a small amount more but we accpeted and was glad we did.

The room was spacious and had a great view over Victoria park. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Be sure to have breakfast on the 29th floor (not many people do this as it is a smaller choice but the view is great).

Overall a lovely hotel with all the facilities only a short trip from the bustling centre of Hong Kong.

stayed at tthe MP hotel for business for two weeks and found everything very good, te food was excellent as were the staff and the value. I upgraded from a standard room to a harbour view and later moved to the club rooms which. The club lounge's food was disappointing but everything else was fine. The concierge recommended and awesome chinese restaurant in Causeway bay called Jade something or other which was fabulous and very authentic....there are a couple of restaurants close by and the MTR was 2mins away as was a supermarket.

I travelled with my wife and a friend to Hong Kong at the end of November. We had two rooms. I picked the slightly more expensive harbour view for an extra HKD100 per night - definitely worth it. It had an excellent view over Victoria Park, towards Causeway Bay and also onto the shopping area too. The greeting from the reception team was warm, friendly and attentive.

We took a cab from the Airport Express MTR station; inexpensive and much easier than changing trains with your baggage.

The room itself was standard low-end 4* fare. The usual free sundries were provided in the bathroom. We were also given a complimentary bottle of fizz and a fruit basket. The TV had a modest selection of English language channels. The bed was fine. Free wired internet access was provided. You don't go to Hong Kong to stay in the hotel room so this was all that we needed.

The hotel has a bar and restaurant that we did not use. We wandered up to the roof terrace to have a look at the small swimming pool and the surroundings. It was very pleasant. There was an attached, modestly provisioned fitness centre. The local neighbourhood (Tin Hau) has a few bars and also a number of eateries for breakfast.

Transport links are excellent. The hotel is situated on a side street that is just round the corner from the antique tram line. This will take you to most points along the north end of Hong Kong Island. There are also a number of cross harbour buses that travel along this main road. Tin Hau MTR station is less than five minutes away.

When staying on the island one has to balance up the cost being more central (in Central, Wan Chai or Admiralty) with the convenience of being closer to the major shops and restaurants. We could get to Wan Chai in 10 minutes on the tram (most of the time) so for us, we did not feel that we had compromised. As we are in our thirties, we did not burn the midnight oil every night. If we had spent a greater amount of our evenings in the Mid-Levels, I think that the journey home would start becoming more tiresome.

For our needs, this place was ideal.

A good four star hotel, which is well situated, about a five minute walk from the MTR, and a ten or so minutes from the Causeway Bay area of Hong Kong, one of HK's five star shopping meccas. Great service, plus the hotel even has a roof top pool and a gym with a killer view! Good breakfast buffet, although the menu becomes repetitive after several days.
